Vila Nepos is a series of several individual apartments located in Old Town Split. We chose the Pica Suite for our family of 4. Communication prior to arrival was excellent, and the owner was very punctual answering my messages. The suite was luxurious with beautiful artwork and stone decor. The pictures do not do it justice. The entrance is very unique as you walk thru a small cafe and up a set of stairs to the entryway. It was very charming and due to the soundproofing of the unit, there was no outside noise. The entrance leads you directly into the kitchen. There are actually two bedrooms and 2 and a half baths with we really appreciated as well as full laundry washer and dryer. Floor 1: kitchen, half bath with laundry, sitting area, bedroom with twin beds with adjoining bathroom Floor 2 was the master bedroom with adjoining bathroom. Overall, PLENTY of space to spread out. The unit was well stocked, clean and ready early. Surprisingly, the owner has arranged with two local restaurants to provide breakfast to guests. We favored the Central buffet closest to the property. It was right outside the door and there was always plenty of seating. It was also quick if you were trying to get to an excursion. This square was right around the corner from Diocletians Palace. Get up early and walk around and take pictures while nobody is there. It is magical! We stayed at several high end properties in Croatia and Montenegro, but our family said that this property was their favorite. It is a true gem!

Great location and even better customer service. Outside noise may be a problem for some especially during peak season, but we had windows closed and were running the AC. Living room furniture wasn’t the most comfortable but we found it fine for the two of us for a week. There was an elevator for baggage so the walk to the top floor wasn’t really a problem. I really do want to emphasize that the customer service, friendliness, and responsiveness was first rate.

Vila Nepos... I was staying down in Dubrovnik for 2 weeks but I decided to spend five days up in Split. I found this through reviewing several sites for Split accommodations. It looked fairly nice from the website, so I went ahead and booked it. I came into Split via Flexbus, and the manager was kind enough to meet me at the bus station to show me the way to the lodgings. It's actually just 5 minutes walk from the bus station to the Vila - very easy to find. This building is only 4 apartments (1 per floor), and not the hotel, so don't expect any hotel amenities. I initially booked the 1st floor Venetian Suite, nevertheless I asked the manager if any of the other suites were available? He told me the 4th floor Centurion Suite was also available, so I took a look at it and actually preferred it to the first floor. Although there's four flights of stairs to climb, to me it seemed like a nicer room; I had a 4th floor apartment in Dubrovnik so I was already doing the work-out. I initially didn't book the 4th floor because, from the pictures, it looks smaller being the top floor 'attic'. However it really isn't small at all - the pictures are deceiving. What I really liked about the apartments are the regal accents with red and gold colours that appealed to me.  The rooms are fairly spacious, immaculate, and really unique, something that you would not typically find in a hotel.  All the appliances were up to date, although I only used the kettle and the microwave. I believe the bathroom had some slight mildew build up in the shower. A maid came by mid-week during my ~5-day stay to do a lil clean-up. I loved the location because from the living room, which is a corner room of the building, there are two windows that you can look out onto the Saint Domnius Cathedral, or the other window you could look at the Silver Gate within Diocletian's Palace walls.  A small quiet alley (nr Portofino restaurant) is seen from the master bedroom window. Breakfast was included... you get a number of coupons for the days of your stay.  You go to the Kavana Central restaurant. and give them a coupon, if they ask, as they didn't always ask. The breakfast is fine -  a typical continental breakfast with some cooked food... a mix of pastries, eggs, bacon, ham and juices and I made a couple of ham and cheese croissant sandwiches to go. One thing I didn't expect was the daily 2Є tourist tax. Typically booking dot com lets you know if there are additional charges, or they state the additional charges are part of the overall cost. So surprised when the manager asked me for the 2Є per day, not much obviously just unaware of the additional fee - I don't like surprises with my billing.  The manager was kind enough to show me another one of the residences that they offer that's closer to People's Square. Vila Nepos Cindro, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor of the Cindro family palace.  This is really, really nice with vaulted ceilings, massive living room - great place for a family to stay.  You couldn't find a more central location within the Diocletian's Palace walls.  One side note about the city tours of Split. I had booked a couple of them because they appeared to be different in context, however they were actually run by the same lady - who the manager quickly identified as she always wears yellow. She seems to be in charge of several of the city tours, and they pretty much cover the same sites & territory. There may be a different tour guide but it's essentially different people telling you the same thing so be aware of that if you consider doing a couple of tours as you think the itinerary may be different because of the way it's worded it's actually not.  Don't get in the trap of responding to any comments about football which I did with one of the tour guides who decided that was what they were going to talk about for the rest of the tour. In summary - Vila Nepos A++ For anyone going to Split, I definitely recommend these lodgings and this location. It's very nice to be able to see & be in part of the Diocletian's Palace and Saint Domnius Cathedral right out of your windows.

Villa Nepos wowed us as soon as we walked through the door. It has been lovingly restored and is full of character, beautiful decor all with a luxurious feel and immaculately clean. The location is Perfect, right in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace. Toma the General Manager at Villa Nepos was there to greet us and whisked our luggage away to our room before a smooth and swift check in. Toma was always on hand to help and nothing was too much trouble for him, he was an outstanding host and a credit to Villa Nepos. We had a one bedroomed apartment consisting of a large open lounge/diner, a very grand bedroom with the most comfortable queen sized bed and a large ensuite with Mahooosive shower! We had a choice of two restaurants for breakfast, both just a two minute walk from the Villa. We stuck to the Central Square Hotel as this was a buffet style with a huge selection of foods which set us up nicely for the day ahead exploring Split. I could go on and on about how amazing this place is but you really need to go, stay and experience it for yourselves, you will not be disappointed. We are already looking to return here and wouldn't look anywhere else.
