My stay at the Almayer Art & Heritage Hotel in Zadar fulfilled my long-held wish to finally spend some time in this beautiful hotel – and the experience exceeded all expectations. The manager, Elena, truly stood out with her exceptional dedication to details and genuine care for the hotel and overall guest experience. The room was beautifully designed, and I was especially impressed by the exceptionally high-quality and comfortable bedding. The hotel radiates elegance, a peaceful atmosphere, and top-level service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special stay in Zadar. I will gladly return!

We had a fantastic stay at Almayer Art & Heritage Adults only Hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully designed—set within a thoughtfully restored historic building. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was modern, with an incredible shower. The location couldn’t be better—right in the center of Zadar’s charming old town, with everything within walking distance. Highly recommended!

“Beautiful hotel in the heart of Zadar”

We stayed here for two nights at the end of a two week trip around Croatia and Montenegro. It is a beautiful hotel that has been very thoughtfully designed. We stayed here for two nights at the end of a two week trip around Croatia and Montenegro. It is a beautiful hotel that has been very thoughtfully designed. Our rooms in the Annex were huge with lovely touches - panelling, bespoke wallpaper, roll top bath, huge rain shower. I’m sure even the toilet had sound proofing!! The only thing missing from the room for us was bathrobes - it just felt like there should have been there given the luxury of the room and that we had slippers. On our floor we also didn’t have a coffee machine. Breakfast was in a lovely setting over the road. Plenty of choice unless you are dairy, meat and gluten free like me. The only options were toast and fruit as the breakfast was heavily egg based which was a shame. We booked their parking at an extra cost after I did some research. I was really glad as cars were being towed away including one of the guests checking in at the same time. It meant we didn’t have to worry so worth every penny. Would definitely recommend the hotel and Zadar itself which is beautiful and a perfect final stop before flying home.

Whilst this property has been beautifully converted, and the staff are friendly, competent and kind, there's no getting over the fact that the main building was originally the annex of a military hospital, meaning the rooms have a very small footprint. The new owner's solution -- at least in the case of our room -- was to make a sleeping loft with skylights. That means you have to navigate a daunting metal staircase in order to use the (beautifully appointed but tiny) bathroom at night. Downstairs, there was a small sofa jammed into a corner under a window, but nowhere to comfortably lounge together, especially as the room was also dark. At the price point, I was disappointed that the room was basically somewhere to sleep and bathe and not much else. Sadly, there are no common areas with comfortable seating either, although the restaurant, with extensive indoor and outdoor space, is lovely, and you're welcome to sit there at all hours. Furthermore, the room's door handle -- a seriously high-end piece of hardware -- had been fitted too close to the door jamb, so both of us injured our knuckles until we learned the hard way to pull the door closed with a left hand. The food at the restaurant is excellent, as is the service. Zadar is short on mid- or high-end accommodation, so this should be an option, but don't choose it if you're planning a romantic chill with a little sightseeing. The hotel has two other buildings that sounds like they might be a better bet -- call to ask.
