“Wonderful beach, wonderful people”

We had a great time at Melia Cayo Coco. The beach is very beautiful, and the staff is super friendly. The place is 'adults only' and there is a very low key relaxing vibe that suits our needs. Over all a great place for an awesome Caribbean vacation!

This is the best hotel in Cayo Coco Cuba. The main highlight is the friendliness of the staff and others. There is such a good and wholesome vibe at this resort, and everyone makes it feel like home. The activities are fun and entertaining but get old sometimes and could use some variety in my opinion. Still, however, it is worth taking part in the activities provided to enjoy time with the lovely entertainment crew. The food is very good compared to other places in Cuba and is almost always fresh and good quality. I have no intention to go back anywhere else in Cuba except Melia Cayo Coco after having visited other resorts!

Melia is such a lovely place to vacation! The staff are so friendly, everyone says “hola” as you walk by. The beach is amazing. Everyone we’ve talked to says the same thing, that this is the best place they’ve stayed. My family came across this resort on our second trip to Cuba, and we keep saying we’re so glad that we didn’t have to keep trying all kinds of resorts to find our favourite!

Did a mother daughter trip at the Melia Cayo Coco from April 13 - April 20, 2024. Third time in Cuba for the both of us, first time at this resort. We have nothing but great things to say about this resort - it exceeded ALL expectations!!! The resort is small and has a quiet atmosphere, which is perfect for relaxing. It is not a party scene and majority of the tourist were older, some couples and families; whom were all outstanding & kind people!! The gardens were very well maintained. We were also pleased that there were no bracelets required! We never experienced any issues with the mosquitos, however noticed them around in the evenings. There were a number of cats around the resort (apparently not as many as years prior), however all very sweet and a highlight for us as cat lovers! The resort offers free wifi, however it only seemed to be reliable while in the main lobby. It was not a problem for us at all but worth noting for those who are wondering about use around the resort!! There were only a few shops on the resort, however there is a market off resort only 1.7km away. We found the pool to be a little small for the size of the resort - despite it is generally smaller then others we have visited in the past. The beach was beautiful and we never had an issue finding a chair. Regarding entertainment we loved listening to the saxophone player at the pool in the evenings. The entertainment staff offered games at the beach in the morning and by the pool in the afternoon. The activities were somewhat limited / repetitive but as aforementioned, this resort is more centred towards relaxing!!! There was live music every evening in the lobby prior to showtime. The shows were the best we had ever seen - the rock concert is a must see!!! The food was exceptional compared to other cuba resorts we have visited in the past. We were disappointed that the piña coladas were not made like they used to be! During our stay we had no issues with shortage of amenities, food, beverages etc. We noticed that they served champagne & wine during lunch/dinner. All three Ala-carts were delicious. Our room was in the 99 block (9922) which was the perfect location as it was close to everything (lobby, pool & beach). The bathroom was newly renovated and beautiful!! The beds were comfortable and the room was always replenished with water, pop and beer. Some minor things we noticed; the room was older and could use some updating i.e. the patio door lock was not reliable/useful (which didn’t overly bother us but worth mentioning). We noticed tiny ants all over the room, on the desk, on the bathroom counter and in our suitcases. Lastly, we were unable to use any hair tools as they did not fit in any outlets -besides the shaver outlet and it would only turn on but not heat up - we will be bringing an adapter next time. Cell phone chargers were not a problem. It is worth mentioning, I celebrated my birthday during our stay at the Melia and the staff had went above and beyond to make me feel extra special that day. With that being said the staff were incredible and the reason we WILL be returning. To name a few, Yolanda and Joel at the buffet. Marcos at the lobby bar. Inti, Yennoel & Adonis at the pool bar. Dariel at the beach bar. Arianna, Chocolate mama, Yandy, Chino & others with the entertainment staff. Felipé & other gardening staff were a pleasure to see everyday! We will be returning to this resort again in the future - it was an incredible experience & unlike any other. We are so grateful for all the staff & repeat tourists that made our trip unforgettable! TIPS: The staff appreciate medications, shoes, clothes, toiletries, etc. Canadian coins (loonies & toonies) are accepted as tips, however they are not able to cash change at their bank. So they have to switch their change out for crisp bills, which is a little more hassle for them. BRING: face clothes, if you are a cat lover (cat food or treats), adapter for outlet
