Last day of another great week a the Kefalonitis hotel apartments, the apartment has been updated with the bathroom completely refurbished with a walk in shower, new sink and toilet. The room was cleaned and fresh towels left 6 days out of the 7 by a very nice cleaning lady. We had a couple of minor problems which were both sorted out within minutes of being reported, well done Nicos and staff. We were bed and breakfast, the bacon and eggs were delicious and Lily who manages the cafe/bar during the day, brightens up your morning with a smile and a laugh. The barman at nighttime is very pleasant and always has time for you. Ted the night manager is always available to help with any queries and a chat if he has time. The girl on reception is very helpful and helped us when we asked about the new bus station on tomb of the kings road (a two minute walk from the Kefalonitis) and the new bus numbers and destinations. We are hoping to return later in the year for another great stay.

First time to Kefalonitis Hotel Apartments, in fact to Cyprus, and we were a bit apprehensive after reading the mixed reviews. Following a late night arrival, we were greeted by Ted, who quickly checked us in and then showed us to our rooms, carrying one of the heaviest cases up to the first floor apartment, before showing us how everything worked and leaving to show the rest of our party to their room in another block, but before he left, he said the bar was open if we wanted a drink (nearly 1am now). We left our cases in the apartment, and went back downstairs and around the pool to the bar, where Ted returned a few minutes later, and the rest of our party joined us shortly after. Fantastic start, and that is how the rest of the holiday went. The hotel is (in our opinion) in a great location - close to numerous bars and restaurants, and within 15-20 minutes walking distance to supermarkets, shopping centre, Tombs of the Kings and the harbour. We had no issues with any of the staff, Lilli manning the bar during the day, Dimitris during the evening, and Ted taking the graveyard shift (his wife also did a few stints in the bar as well). The owner Nicos was always polite, yet I can see why people may have felt he was arrogant as he kept himself to himself, but if you make the effort to acknowledge and speak to him, he always responded politely. His wife always greeted us with a smile, and took time to speak to us every time we went out or came back. Travelled with Jet2, and Cheryl the rep always walked around, giving ample opportunity for holidaymakers to talk to her, and was wonderful when our 7 month old grandson fell off the bed and we needed to get him to a hospital to be checked over. Every time she came to the hotel, she would come and find us to see how he was. Nicos and his wife also asked about him every time we met them, and asked if there was anything could do to help. We also had a couple of young lads that thought it was funny knocking on doors and running away, whilst their parents went for drinks outside of the hotel. When this was reported to Nicos, he said he had been accused of being rude when he had tried to bring it to the attention of the parents, so I spoke to Cheryl, who in turn brought it to Maria's (Nicos's daughter) attention, and appropriate action was taken (threats of being kicked out). A pity some think it is ok for young lads to be left to do what they want. at the expense of others. The only downside of the accommodation was the usual around the pool these days - the reservation of sunbeds early in the morning and then being left unused until mid afternoon, and the number of people playing ball games in the pool (without regard for others using the pool, including young children and babies). Although there were signs around the pool indicating this was not allowed, it was not enforced. Overall, you get what you pay for, yet we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at the Kefalonitis, and would definitely go back.

Stayed for one week, end of season, basic accommodation with nice pool, quiet bar & food area in a great location. Enjoyed newly created coastal boardwalk extending from Venus Beach to the harbour, with beach bar to enjoy the sunsets. We picked up the boardwalk from the nearby Elysium Hotel, 40 mins walk to harbour. Enjoyed O’Neils bar (great service & negroni cocktails) Fat Mama’s (huge portions & entertainment) Karlinas (lovely authentic food & staff) Martelli’s & last night delicious evening meal at Duomo. Loved the fun & entertainment on offer at the Damon hotel apartments (can call in & pay for drinks at poolside bar if not staying) and same at Kefalos Beach village. We apparently missed the some great nights at Pitstop, recommended by other tourists, will try next time. Best wishes to Ted, the night porter for good late night chats! Would stay at same venue again.
