Overall, we had a very good experience at Sunrise Tucana Makadi Bay Hurghada and would gladly visit again. The hotel has very modern, clean, and well-maintained facilities. The reception staff were exceptionally kind, warm, and helpful throughout our stay. The golf cart service was especially helpful for my grandmother, making it very comfortable for her to travel between the room, restaurants, and beach. Our room was cleaned daily, and the housekeeping staff consistently asked whether we needed anything extra. The private beach was very nice, with comfortable seating, and the pool area was also clean and well-maintained. There were several different bars throughout the resort, making it convenient to get drinks. The main area for improvement was the food. Overall, the food quality was mediocre, although the Bedouin night was an exception—the food was excellent and featured delicious, very authentic Egyptian cuisine. Drink service was also somewhat inconsistent, with varying quality between different juices, such as lemon-mint juice, and occasional mistakes with soda orders. The general manager was also very kind and welcoming when we checked out, which was a nice way to end our stay. Overall, we had a great time at Sunrise Tucana Makadi Bay. Despite a few areas for improvement, the modern facilities, cleanliness, excellent staff, and overall experience make this a resort I would happily visit again. Of note, we are Egyptian Americans and have visited many resorts throughout general Hurghada area, Sharm El Sheikh and Caribbean for comparison.

From the moment we arrived at Tucana, we were impressed. The first thing that took our breath away was the view — absolutely stunning. The hotel is beautifully presented, and despite arriving at 11pm, we were warmly welcomed with a cold drink, a friendly smile and even food so we could relax and settle in after our journey. A fantastic first impression. The hotel itself is immaculate. Everything is spotless, nothing feels out of place, and the housekeeping team do an incredible job. The rooms are beautiful, well maintained and extremely comfortable. The food was another highlight — exceptional quality, great choice and clearly a lot of care goes into what is served. The location is also ideal, around 30 minutes from the airport, making transfers easy and stress-free. When we first arrived, the hotel felt perfectly balanced. The capacity seemed comfortable, staff were happy and attentive, drinks were cold and service was excellent. However, as the hotel became busier, the experience did change. Some staff appeared under increasing pressure, and unfortunately this sometimes showed. In the restaurants, we experienced missed orders, drinks arriving genuinely hot (not just warm), and on occasions staff either seemed overwhelmed or less welcoming than expected. The entertainment team were fantastic. They worked incredibly hard, were enthusiastic and did a great job encouraging guests to get involved and enjoy themselves. One thing to note is that the adjoining sister hotel was great in the evening, but during the day it felt extremely busy and overcrowded — more like a cattle market at times. Our advice would be to enjoy Tucana’s facilities during the day and avoid the sister hotel when it’s at its busiest. Overall, Tucana is a gorgeous hotel with so many positives. The cleanliness, rooms, food, location and overall setting are all outstanding. My advice would be to be patient during peak periods, show appreciation to the staff (they are clearly working incredibly hard), and remember that a busy hotel can put pressure on even the best teams. Would we return? Absolutely. We loved our stay and would happily come back — we would probably just choose a quieter time outside the start of peak season to enjoy the experience at its best.

“Not the best sunrise resort, LOOKS more premium than it is.”

The hotel itself is beautiful! The decor is stunning and all of the bars and restraunts look incredible. The food is ' a-la carte ' but to be honest i think was reflected in portion size more than quality, the only one we really enjoyed was the greek for dinner! In the italian we were served gone off calamari and the mexican from the other resort was revolting. Due to there being no buffet format for breakfast lunch or dinner and are sit down or bookable meals i found after being there for 8 nights it severely lacked in variety and for us we realised a large part of the holiday experiance is that holiday buffet. It was nice that dining was a little more queit this way but it did effect the experiance. You have the opportunity to use the hotel next door for their buffet which was really nice but the hotel itself isnt at all, and having paid for a lovely resort, we wanted to stay in the resort we paid for. A lot of the time staff would come over for your order and forget half of it or the condiments you asked for. The cocktails however did feel premium and luxury. There isnt an awful lot to do on site and as you cant just leave the hotel due to its location unless you want to take a long taxi ride anywhere, even then there isnt a lot to do in hurgada, there wasnt an awful lot to do. Me and my partner LOVE doing nothing on holiday but even for us it got a bit much, next to no entertainment at all apart from the Boudin night which was amazing and the food was incredible which showed when they do put on a buffet spread it was exceptional! Even all of the bars on site which again look so lovely and premium, were completely dead therefore no staff even up there! Myself and my partner then became quite unwell and witnessed other people also throwing up! I think this is quite common for egypt anyway but because of this had to avoid any drinks with ice, salads washed in tap water or fruit washed in tap water it left even less options and further lacked variety. The staff were nice and management were really keen for you to have a good experiance, often coming around and asking if everything is ok and serving drinks around the pool. No fighting for sunbeds which was great and we are not early risers. The worst thing about the hotel i think were the beds, incredibly rock hard and so uncomfortable! I normally can sleep anywhere but had less sleep here than anywhere else before which ruined our days a little as we were so knackered from the lack of sleep despite and our backs killing us even after getting back to the hotel room at 9/10pm each night because there was nothing to do at all bar watch the world cup being on at the time. Lovely hotel in terms of scenery and the premium LOOK but not necessarily the premium feel. When leaving they do however give you a whole hotel room to get ready and shower in before leaving after you have checked out and I thought this was great and haven't had this at any previous stay. We decided to stay at Tucana after staying at Sunrise Arabian last year in sharm, though Tucana was advertised as a more premium Sunrise resort we thought wed love it, even more so than sunrise arabian but we both completley prefered Sunrise Arabian in almost every aspect apart from the decor which was lovely at Tucana. That being said we did had a lovely holiday, but for how premium it is advertised it wasn't and we wouldn't return.
