TLDR: would recommend - very well priced, nice beach/pool and great staff. Just finished a lovely 10 day break at Ajira Hotel, Sahl Hasheesh. We were not sure of what to expect upon arrival as the description and info online wasn’t super clear but we shouldn’t have been worried! Location: The hotel itself is inside a larger complex (Azurra complex), which meant it felt super safe and family friendly. However, some might find it a little quiet. Within the Azzura complex is a gym, which is 750EGP to join for the week. The gym has all you need to have a holiday workout (machines, smith machine, pull up/dip station & cardio equipment). Room: Again, wasn’t sure what to expect, especially given some of the reviews on trip advisor etc. However, we were pleasantly surprised as the room was lovely! Decently sized, clean and sufficiently comfy bed. The towels/sheets are changed very regularly too which is good. WiFi is available in the rooms, though it’s not super strong it’s enough for basic internet browsing. The one critique would be that the walls were quite thin - meaning it was quite noisy and could be hard to get to sleep! Food: We had the room and breakfast option, not all inclusive. The buffet food for breakfast wasn’t of the greatest quality but the omelette they made fresh each day was nice enough! There is a lot of choice, so there would probably be something that you’d like! If management were to add freshly squeezed fruit juice and nicer coffee I think this would be a big improvement. We did not eat any meals at the hotel itself but based on breakfast, I probably wouldn’t recommend the all inclusive option. There are lots of options around Sahl Hasheesh itself. The pool and beach area offers some snack and lunch options, although a lot of the menu is often unavailable but what is there is, is reasonably tasty and well priced. Facilities: as mentioned above there is a gym available in the complex (Upgrade spa and gym). The pool is a 2 minute walk from the front desk and has a nice area for lounging on sun beds. The beach is on the main promenade bit of Sahl Hasheesh, a 20 minute (1.8km) walk from Ajira. They run a complementary shuttle but the walk was nice and felt safe doing so at all times of day, so we predominantly did that. The beach has plenty of comfy beds and we always managed to get a space. However, whether this would be the case in peak season I don’t know. The water at the beach is beautifully clear, with good snorkelling. We saw a juvenile eagle ray, blue-spotted sting ray, clown fish & more. Very cool. The beach is a little rocky but they have beach shoes available for free. The beach and pool close at 5pm, which we felt was a little early and could be extended. Staff: We had generally very positive interactions with the staff at Ajira. Some particular members that made our stay special were Hamdy Mohammed at breakfast, Emad Abbas at the pool and Taha Yousef at the beach area. Both were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay and an asset to the Ajira hotel! The security staff throughout the complex were great too. Mustafa at the security box at the bottom of the road/beside the round about is particularly kind & friendly! Overall, we would definitely recommend the Ajira hotel, based on the good value, kind staff and facilities/safety. Thanks for a lovely stay :)

When leaving these reviews, sometimes you have to think about what you paid versus-what you actually received. Then at the same time, look at what their competitors like Serenity, KAI and others in Sahl Hasheesh are charging. Therefore, for approximately £50 per night, with a buffet breakfast included and a free shuttle to the beach, AJIRA is a good value for money resort. AJIRA is a 10 minute walk from the seaside, but the actual patch of beach that you will want to use (sun-loungers, beach service etc) is a 25 minute walk, or waiting for their shuttle aka black limo service (tame your expectations about limos). Ahmed, who was on the day-shift, really cares about getting every detail right for every guest. Then you have men like Taha (beach server), Farhan (breakfast server) & the senior pool server who are keen and committed. On the negative side, the quality of the food at the restaurant is very poor. On our first night, we had our dinner in the restaurant and every bite was unpleasant. We never went back! At breakfast time, there is a lot of variety, but we learnt to always go for cooked omelettes, plus any eggplant dish. Falafels, white cheese, rye bread, were generally good too. Lots of things were faulty too, like the room door/key card system, lukewarm fridge, the safe and defunct telephone. However, the staff were genuinely willing to fix any issues we encountered. I would encourage you to tip your service well in EGP - NOT LOOSE EU COINS!
