ENGLISH VERSION We stayed at Sentido Akassia Beach as a family with three children. The whole resort area is very large and consists of several hotel sections. However, guests do not have access to all parts of the complex. One hotel area in the middle, Akassia Swiss, is separated by a fence and security does not allow guests from Sentido to use its pools or facilities. The behaviour of the security staff in that area was, in our experience, very unfriendly and uncomfortable. Another point that immediately created a strange feeling for us as first-time visitors to Egypt was the fact that the resort complex is surrounded by fencing with barbed wire. I understand that this may be normal for security reasons in this region, but as a guest arriving for a family holiday, the first impression is not very pleasant. The reception team, however, deserves high praise. We were welcomed politely, offered cold drinks, and the staff spoke English and German. The reception staff were professional, well dressed, organised and clearly trained to a high standard. The same applies to the staff in the main restaurant. The waiters worked extremely hard and were so friendly that it almost became uncomfortable how much effort they made for the guests. I would especially like to mention Mr. Eslam Elsayed and Mr. Mohamed Abdelah. Both are clearly made for this job. Professional, kind, fast and respectful. Full praise. Our room cleaner, Mr. Mina, who took care of room 7406, also deserves special recognition. He worked carefully, reliably and with real attention to detail. If all hotel employees worked like him, the hotel would deserve far more stars than any rating system can give. Unfortunately, the level of service outside the reception and main restaurant was not always on the same level. Some staff members outside these areas should work seriously on their communication, professional distance and English language skills. We also did not like the behaviour of some employees towards female guests. Some jokes and comments felt too familiar and inappropriate. Guests are guests, not friends or private acquaintances. This professional boundary should be respected. One waiter with glasses at the Family Bar left a particularly negative impression in this regard. Another very disturbing point was the constant approach by people selling safari tours, quad trips and hair braiding for children. Around the pool and sunbeds we were approached almost every day, repeatedly and persistently. For a family holiday this becomes tiring and unpleasant. Guests should be able to relax without feeling like they are being targeted every few minutes. The food in the hotel was varied. There was always enough choice and nobody can say that there was no food. However, the taste was very different from what many European guests may expect. Pizza did not really taste like pizza, meat and other dishes often had a different flavour than we are used to. That is partly a matter of taste, of course, but it should be mentioned honestly. What really should be improved is the open cooking area on the restaurant terrace. Some cooks there seemed unmotivated, especially the person preparing pizza. Even more concerning was the fact that birds landed on the pasta in the open area and pecked at it, while flies were also around the food. The cooks appeared to ignore this. This is not acceptable for a hotel of this category and should be corrected immediately. A very important safety issue concerns the first pool near the beach, especially the children’s pool. Inside the pool there are extremely sharp edges, almost as sharp as a knife. In our opinion, this can be very dangerous for children. This is not a small cosmetic issue, but a real safety concern that the hotel should inspect and fix urgently before a child gets seriously injured. The animation programme for children and guests was also not well organised. It was not clearly shown in the hotel app, sometimes it appeared on the board near the restaurant, sometimes even the animators did not seem to know exactly what was planned. This should be better coordinated and communicated. Another negative point was the behaviour of some waiters and bar staff outside the main restaurant. At times, the way they behaved gave the impression that tips were being indirectly expected or pushed. Tipping is normal in Egypt, but it should never feel like pressure. At the end of our stay, a lady from the hotel, probably from guest relations or management, approached us during a children’s activity and asked honestly what we liked and what we did not like. She spoke German, listened carefully, wrote everything down and immediately started to deal with the issues we mentioned. This was a big plus for the hotel and showed that at least part of the management is genuinely interested in improvement. In conclusion, Sentido Akassia Beach has many strong points: a large resort, good family facilities, a beautiful sea location, very good reception staff, excellent staff in the main restaurant and outstanding housekeeping in our room. However, the hotel also has weaknesses that should not be ignored: inconsistent service quality, uncomfortable behaviour from some staff, too much pressure from sellers around the pool area, unclear animation organisation, hygiene issues in the open cooking area and a serious safety concern in the children’s pool near the beach. For families, the hotel can still be a good choice if expectations are realistic. But based on our experience, the service, organisation and safety standards are not consistently at the level one would expect from a clear 5-star hotel.
