While the hotel is showing its age a little bit, it is extremely clean, everything functions well, the rooms are charming and comfortable (with terrific Red Sea views), and the beach is gorgeous. On the beach, there is a generous amount of comfortable lounges with umbrellas - I never felt as if I had to rush down to reserve a spot. In fact, even though our suite had a generous deck with lounge chairs, I preferred the beach until sunset. The pier they have built provides easy access to the water for divers and snorkelers. I was very impressed with the competence and professionalism of the on-site dive shop. We were so pleased, we did twice as many dives as we originally planned. At the hotel, you can choose to drink and dine à la carte or all-inclusive. We selected à la carte and found the food, wine, and service at the specialty restaurants to be generous and excellent. We also enjoyed a nightly cocktail at the lobby bar. However, without an all-inclusive wristband, it is a bit more difficult to get alcoholic beverages while at the beach and at some of the pool bars. Due to the timing of other portions of our trip, we spent 9 nights at this hotel. Prior to our arrival, I was concerned that would be a long time and we would get bored. Everything was so nice that I would have happily stayed longer. Additionally, I appreciated the consistently friendly staff and that they arranged our airport pickup on arrival.

Having been to Egypt many times over 20 years and stayed in different hotels, I have tendency to really research our next choice. I’d read reviews about work being carried out in the cave pool area. I DM’d on instagram checking all was complete and was told yes dear guest. They commented there was other work going on but this was away from the guest areas. The cave pool is not easily accessible, from the beach you have to walk up some very steep steps. This will potentially improve when the new pool having been constructed above is open. Behind the green mesh running along the side the steps all around the sunbathing area is building detritus, it’s an eyesore quite honestly. And the bar has a couple of items available and the waterfall switched on, only after I’d complained to lovely man, Ahmad at guest relations. Such a font of knowledge, he personally takes you to your room. To be fair all the pools require attention, especially in the two shallow ends attached to the main pool there are many chipped and sharp edged tiles. These are the only shallow pools for little ones. The floor around the main pool wasn’t once cleaned whilst we were there, it was filthy. The tables or beds aren’t wiped down either. Other hotels we’ve stayed at, this was a daily task by the lifeguards ahead of the pools opening. Here they just sat in the chair from 8am until dusk. Contrary to the bar staff at both the swim up pool and beach bar who work so hard. Often in the hot sun, Omar Mustafa made the best iced lattes. The beach is stunning really long and the reef along this part of the coast is far better than Naqb area. The entertainment team currently in residence is ok, the only place you find out what is going on is the hotel lobby, but it not obvious. Neither did it correlate to what they chose to do. I didn’t understand why there wasn’t anything on the beach. The restaurants, well according to the Sheraton website there’s supposed to be an à la carte breakfast and seafood restaurant open, called Moonlight. This was never open during our entire stay. The downside you had to go to the buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Again when comparing with other similar standard hotels the choice was extremely limited. The two À la carte restaurants offered a 3 choice fixed menu anything else had to be paid for. In the Lebanese restaurant the ‘beef’ kofta was actually more lamb! The Italian was lovely and well managed by Ambar and his protege El-Sayed. The food was well presented and delicious with lots of flavour. Given the hotel’s capacity I do worry what it would be like at full capacity. The hotel requires a cash injection to bring it to a standard consistent to the global Sheraton brand name. It’s very tired in some areas even as you drive through the gates there’s letters missing from the name. Not a good first impression. It could be fabulous as it’s certainly in a great location. The staff on the whole are great especially when you’re polite and engage in conversation. As not all nationalities do this and some are just outright disrespectful & rude. Overall we had a very relaxing holiday, would I return….as it is now no, if they improve the facilities and have all the restaurants open possibly.
