“Excellent centre for touring Beaujolais and Bourgogne”

Simple hotel, conveniently located on N6, just outside Chagny. Rooms excellent with air conditioning, demi-pension very acceptable and moderately priced. Important to ask for room at rear. Staff are friendly and very helpful.

Not the most modern hotel, but the rooms have been clearly renovated recently, and are in extremely good and clean conditions. The owners are as friendly and efficient as can be done. Since hotel is on a busy road, the trafic can be heard from the rooms facing the parking, so try to ask for the back side. Huge parking available. Decent breakfast available. On the less positive side, the restaurant was a bit disappointing as there was basically only the daily suggestion available. It was good, but a choice would have been better. To be said that it was mid week, mid january, so clearly low season

Clean rooms, recently renovated and very functionnal (includes individual airco); personnel that visibly tries to make things work and make your stay enjoyable. The place is rather large, and lacks some warmth, but they are on the right track to get this place back on the map. Very convenient location, although you are not in a 'village' environment. If you want to go anywhere, you need to take your car. But all in all, we had good beds, clean showers, peaceful nights and would recommend the place if you are mobile. Breakfast and restaurant are ok, and will hopefully get somemore sofisticated as things evolve. And NO problem to park your vehicle! Oh and prices are really competitive. All in all a good deal! Having been badly let down (double-booked) by the Air B&B we'd reserved north of Beaune and finding ourselves at 19.30 on a Friday without anywhere to stay, we googled hotels in the region and found a last-minute room here. Having been badly let down (double-booked) by the Air B&B we'd reserved north of Beaune and finding ourselves at 19.30 on a Friday without anywhere to stay, we googled hotels in the region and found a last-minute room here. It was such a relief to find accommodation at that stage, we were prepared to be uncritical. In fact, our reception at Hotel le Chagny was warm and friendly, the room though small and a bit cramped was clean and comfortable. The restaurant staff very kindly served us dinner although we arrived 5 mins before closing. Our room was at the front of the hotel, overlooking the parking lot and the busy road, so not quiet. The hallway leading to the bedrooms is long and narrow and the lighting so poor, it was difficult to see well enough to put the key into the lock.

When you say no frills, this place really means no frills. But for all of that I really liked it. I was welcomed by a friendly young man and his very well - behaved dog. The rooms are fairly basic but what you really need, a comfortable bed and a hot shower, are there in abundance. I don't think I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed. The restaurant again is fairly basic and lacking decor but the food more then speaks for itself. It is quality home style food at it's very best. I had a fantastic beef bourguignon that was very rich and flavoursome. Eating it from an earthenware pot, soaking up the wonderful sauce with some fresh, warm bread was a delight and one that I hope to repeat one day. Simple but oh so delicious. There is absolutely nothing pretenious about this place and I will most certainly be back.
