Concarneau really feels like the heart of Brittany, and the Kermor is a truly authentic experience of that region. Situated on a long sandy beach to the west of the town, the hotel is pretty much a ship. It is built from nautical materials and full of memorabilia - but it all fits. We had a view out to sea and over the terrace. Despite it being September we had extremely hot, sunny weather and you can walk from your room downstairs straight onto the beach. Each room is fairly unique. Ours was small but with the waves, sun and heat we were outside most of the time. The staff were bubbly and chatty, and breakfast taken with views over the beach and sea. It was fairly simple but delicious, and you could boil you own eggs; I especially liked the pain au chocolat and the coffee. Concarneau is a working port with a huge harbour and an old town behind a seaside fortress. The old town streets are packed with up-market shops, bars and restaurants. If you like seafood, or grilled meats, you are in for a treat. Biscuit and cake shops are impressive, but butter does seem to be the key ingredient. There are also lots of restaurants, some very smart, in the new port/harbour area. There is plenty to do, boat trips, fishing and walks galore. If you love the sea, fresh air, sun and sky - go here and stay at this remarkable hotel. One note of caution. If you are going by car perhaps avoid parking in the forecourt that has space for two cars only and can be tricky. There is a parking lot just adjacent for the beach was quieter at night and away from the main road for peace of mind. It's also a 1/2 hr walk in to town on the coastal path, but worth it. A much shorter way is to cut through the town if you are in a hurry. Enjoy.

“Fabulous position right on the beach.”

We spent three nights here and left determined to return. The position is incredible, the staff very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is excellent. The only downside is the comparative lack of parking.

we spent 2 night in this hotel. this is a particular hotel with navy design. i mean everything remaind you a navy. the location is excellent, on the beach. the room we got on the second floor was very small but with a nice terrace in front of the sea. the toilette is unbelievable small. there is also a small private parking but it is only for 2,cars. As the room was small and not cheap (we spent 140€/night) i do not know if i'll use again

Our French colleagues booked this hotel and we went with apprehension as we usually book a more corporate and larger hotel. I actually loved this hotel, it's location was fantastic and the views were perfect. Rooms were very clean and completely in a nautical theme. Wifi was good enough for the lap top. Good quality continental breakfast was included in the price and if you ask for a beer in the evening they fetch one from the fridge and charge a moderate price. Private access straight onto the sandy beach, when the tide is in it feels like you are actually on a boat. It's a small quirky hotel with all rooms having sea view, the owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
