We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions. We reserved 2 rooms for our family of 5. The hotel is perfectly located at Mont St. Michel. The rooms were what we expected. You can't complain about a hotel that is built in 1879. Definitely manage your expectations. It was great to stay over on the island and that was what we wanted. The restaurant was under renovation on the outside so we opted not to have dinner that night. The breakfast was fine and served its purpose. We are so glad we stayed here for one night. Louanne the receptionist was great. We did just have backpacks as we had read you do not want to be carrying luggage up the stairs.

The restaurant La Mere Poulard has wonderful food. We ate here twice this week. The first night was pleasant and relaxing, tonight's visit, was very odd. We were seated next to two people at an adjacent table. They began to laugh uncontrollably, at one point saying something about us, while the laughing continued. I asked one of the waitresses if we could be reseated and she put us at a different table. We did not choose that table, but sat where she offered to seat us. Her maître d'hôtel was visibly upset at us, thinking perhaps we had asked to sit at that new table. She said that it was saved for more people, we then asked if we could sit at another table that was clearly just for two and she said yes. but her attitude was inexplicable. She was not professional with us or kind. The feeling we had was that we were expected to sit next to these two people who had-even if they were not admitting it to her-laughed at us. Why? Perhaps they found Americans funny, or even worse because were were a mixed race couple. This is not how to take care of customers. To add insult to injury she talked about us with that couple, it was again inexplicable. If you seat people next to uncouth persons, have the decency to reseat them. Do not lecture your customers, People come in to a fine restaurant to relax and eat their meals, not to be laughed at, or reprimanded by an unbalanced and unprofessional maître d'hôtel. I would add the two fights were heard in the kitchen with staff, which made me wonder if the whole atmosphere fo the place was soured by this woman. I would not be surprised.
