“Very nice hotel”

We booked a suite at this hotel as it is part of the Marriott chain. The suite was well appointed with a comfortable bed, 2 balconies and a good bathroom and large closet. The pool is fabulous. The location is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. We will stay there again

Long gone are the days when AC Hotel Ambassadeur Antibes-Juan Les Pins can benefit from just a fresh coat of paint. This place needs a full remodel that starts with sledge hammers. The issues are not just aesthetic or functional. This place has potential safety hazards. The floating glass shelf above the toilet that is not secure and leans forward and the high bathtub wall guests have to climb over to get in and out of the shower are just accidents waiting to happen. I reported the shelf issue to the front desk but am doubtful anything will be done about it. It’s a shame too, because other than the desperate need to be updated, the hotel is in a great location with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. We just happened to be there during the Jazz à Juan music festival. This was a blessing and a curse. Music started at 8pm and jam sessions went on until 1am. The hotel should consider providing guests with earplugs to minimize the noise. After reading some other reviews and having stayed in Monaco in the past, I’m fortunate to say our room had working air conditioning. I agree with others that the toilet seats need to be replaced with ones that fit. I love the South of France and loved my first visit to Antibes. I can only hope that this hotel invests in making guests feel more at home.

“Lovely stay on the whole but a few things let it down.”

We have just returned from a 4 day stay in this hotel. It was our first time staying at the hotel. It was very well located, all the staff were super friendly, helpful and provided a good service. The pool area and breakfast room were both great. There was a good selection of breakfast foods though the staff were reluctant to top up the buffet up to 30 minutes till the close of breakfast, so the fresh fruit salad and other items were frequently not there or only one or two pieces left in a bowl. They were also very prompt with removing everything from the breakfast buffet and staff went around the tables, giving us 10 minutes’ warning that the breakfast was soon to close. We liked the idea of the convenience store to the left of the reception. Our room was comfortable though the bathroom was quite snug, and the one shelf on the wall behind the toilet was hanging off the wall, tilting at an angle so couldn’t be used, which made the limited storage space in the bathroom even more challenging. There was only 1 towel holder and none for the other towels. 2 hooks were on the shower wall but weren’t well located for them to stay dry! The toilet roll holder was also fixed at an awkward angle. Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn’t very effective, until we actually realised by our last night that it wasn’t working at all, and we got very little sleep on a night when we had to be up early for our departure the next day. So this wasn’t very satisfactory. When checking out, my husband mentioned the issue with the a/c and was told that it had stopped working in all of the bedrooms. Instead of trying to make things better for us, they offered no form of compensation whatsoever, and just said sorry. The pool attendant told us, when we asked for a towel each for our sun beds and 1 each for the pool (to dry ourselves after swimming) that the hotel policy only allowed 1 towel per person. We were really surprised by this as we had never been restricted before over the number of towels we wanted, in any hotel over many years of travel around the world. We felt this was a bit petty. If they wanted to restrict our use of towels, they could have offered less face flannels and bath towels in our bathroom for example, as we had more than the number of us staying there. The pool toilet area was really poor for a 4 star hotel and desperately needs updating. The décor of the pool toilet area was poor and it looked like it hadn’t been renovated since the 1980s. Except for these issues, it was a pleasant stay. However, I recommend that the management looks into these aspects to improve the situation.
