I was staying there with my Mom for 4 night and we had a wonderful time at the hotel! We also booked breakfast for every morning and everything was delicious. I have gluten allergy and I could eat a lot of things. Special thanks to Alda! She very kind and made sure that I got my gluten free bread and pastries every morning! :) We for sure will come back in the near future.

Potential guests require more specific information about this property that I have not seen covered in any reviews I've read about Hotel Florence. First, I'll mention that the front desk staff is absolutely lovely and quite helpful. They're fluent in English, so language was never a barricade. We really enjoyed their hospitality. Regarding the facility itself: 1) You climb seven steps from the entrance up to the checkin desk where the elevator is located. The staff will help you carry your luggage up if necessary. Arrival by car is cumbersome because the street ends and turns into a ramp leading down into a parking garage half a dozen yards from the hotel entrance. There are no available parking spaces on the street, so you park illegally on a sidewalk to check in. 2) Garage parking is inconvenient. You drive down the ramp in front of the hotel into the garage, which is not connected to the hotel, and then climb four levels of steps up to the street. Or you walk half a block to the other end of the parking garage to get to the elevator and then walk half a block back to the hotel. The parking spaces in the garage are designed for tiny cars. You can barely get the passenger doors open if you're parked between two cars in a standard size vehicle. 3) Parking is expensive. The discounted rate for hotel guests is 23 euros per day ($27 USD). The hotel provides you with a pass card which you take to the customer service desk on level 3 of the garage. Then you prepay parking for your entire stay and are printed a ticket that gets you in and out of the garage at will. Don't lose the ticket. 4) The hotel location is a nightmare for driving in and out of the city every day to tour the Cote d'Azur. You wind endlessly through narrow one-way streets with motorbikes and scooters veering in every direction and, if you hesitate briefly to wait for the GPS to catch up to your location, other drivers honk at you. 5) The hotel elevator is in dire need of updating. There is a total of one elevator here for six floors, which can accommodate only three people at a time, or two people and two suitcases. We waited endlessly for the elevator during our stay while it went all the way down to Floor -1 and then went all the way back up to Floor 5, only to have it stop at our floor with no room for more passengers. Sometimes we waited three round trips for an empty elevator to show up. In the mornings, we just took the stairs down to the breakfast room rather than wait for the elevator. 6) The breakfast buffet is identical every day. There's a gourmet coffee machine and another that dispenses three kinds of juice. The buffet includes four types of sliced fresh fruit (if they don't run out), lettuce (if they don't run out) with tomatoes and cucumbers, five kinds of sliced deli meat, ham quiche cubes, three varieties of cheese, a half a dozen breads and pastry desserts, yogurt cups, pancakes, hard-boiled eggs (which you boil yourself-a first in hospitality), and a wide array of condiments including local honey. The last day of our stay, we noticed tiny fruit smoothies and a shredded beet-carrot-onion salad. We don't eat any meat or dairy, or sugary breads, so pickins were slim for us. 7) The hotel is green conscious, which I appreciate (especially the recycle bins in the rooms). However, eco-friendly can be overdone. Example - Precisely one small paper napkin is provided at breakfast per person. There are no extra napkins on the buffet shelves. One day I needed an extra napkin, so I grabbed one from an empty table next to me and was reprimanded by a breakfast worker who informed me that if I wanted another napkin, I should ask her for it. 8) Same overdone eco strategy in the guest rooms. Bathroom amenities are non-existent. There is one dispenser in the shower and one attached to the wall next to the sink which provides guests with a soapy substance that is to be used for hair and body washing. There is no hair conditioner or body lotion. No shower cap or makeup remover wipes, etc. No 3-star hotel amenities. Bring your own personal care items. 9) The double room is barely large enough for two slender humans. The bathroom is so tiny that you can't sit straight on the toilet, but have to position yourself kitty corner. There is barely enough room in the shower to wash your hair without bumping your elbows on the walls. Same problem trying to dry off after the shower. There is no convenient space on the wall for the hair dryer, so it's attached to the wall on the left side of the mirror. If you're right-handed, the cord barely reaches and it rubs against your face while you dry your hair. The main room is so narrow that you can't get into the bathroom if someone is sitting at the desk. And you can't walk straight forward between the end of the bed and the wall to get to the other side of the room. Overweight guests will have difficulty trying to navigate this room. 10) The room isn't soundproof. We heard talking every night in the room next door. 11) The shower pressue is good, but the temperature of the water fluctuates between scalding and tepid. There is no exhaust fan in the shower. The tile floor in the shower gets very slippery when wet. Use extra caution and use the hand rail to avoid a fall. 12) There is no nightlight in the bathroom, and the ceiling light is blinding if you need to get up in the middle of the night. The good news: 1) There is ample closet and shelf space for two people. 2) There's an almost full-length mirror. 3) Blackout curtains facilitate sleeping late. 4) Mini-refridge for storing the boiled eggs that you didn't have time to eat at breakfast because it took so long to cook them. 5) The bed is very comfortable (there's one extra pillow in the closet). 6) Night lights for reading are properly positioned and utile. 7) The wi-fi speed is sufficient for normal use. 8) Two English language news channels on the TV if you can't survive without news. 9) The beach is about half a mile walk. 10) The tram stops a block from the hotel. 11) Shopping galore within a few blocks in every direction, if you're into retail therapy. 12) 24-hour front desk staff. 13) Breakfast is served late, until 11:00 and checkout isn't until noon. 14) The hotel is next door to an organic grocery market. Hubby and I have stayed at more than 250 hotels, inns, lodges, resorts, etc. worldwide - establishments ranging from 3-star to 5-star ratings, so we're keenly aware of the intricate differences between hospitality properties. This facility merits three TripAdvisor circles.
