We stayed for a week in July. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny but not too hot. We were in Focarón which is a suite with bedroom, shower room and an open plan kitchen/sitting room. It is at the back of the hotel so no sea view but was very quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, cooker and washing machine. There is a lift if you have trouble with stairs. There was a flat screen TV and we were able to log in to Netflix and Disney + on it. The bed was very comfortable and the aircon worked well. Breakfast was lovely and well worth 15 Euros. There is a big buffet, and you can have eggs cooked in various ways. The hotel has a bus stop outside and a train station opposite so it is easy to get around without a car. A regular bus goes to a huge beautiful beach 15 minutes away with a cafe, toilets and a surf school. The street that the hotel is in is lined with bars and restaurants that look out over the water. The hotel was fabulous but even better were the staff, all so helpful and friendly. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at.

“Superb hotel and staff.”

This is a superb hotel. Beautifully designed, friendly staff, excellent restaurant. The room was exceptional, stylish decor, overlooking the harbour. The evening meal was high quality. This is a superb hotel. Beautifully designed, friendly staff, excellent restaurant. The room was exceptional, stylish decor, overlooking the harbour. The evening meal was high quality. The only downside was that the road is noisy, so we had to close the windows. The kitchen extractor fan was under our window and woke us up in the morning at 08:00. If the fan could be rerouted this would make this hotel unfaultable.

“Characterful comfortable hotel”

Very pleasant non chain hotel over looking the river estuary. Rooms very comfortable and spotlessly clean with efficient aircon. Helpful efficient staff and super breakfast. Plentiful and easy parking . We did not eat dinner, but it looked very good. Only negative comment is that if you do not like disturbances do not book one of the rooms overlooking the river/street. For each one of our four nights,the hubbub from the bar next door continued till late into the night and started again at 7am sharp. Even closing the windows does not shut it out. I assume the rooms on the other side of the hotel are quieter ?

Plenty of space to spread out, comfortable beds, quality linens, and practical touches like a mini-fridge and kettle. • Friendly, attentive staff. Both reception and restaurant teams strike the right balance of professionalism and warmth, making check-in smooth and mealtimes relaxed. • Strong value for money. Considering the location and room size, rates feel fair—especially in comparison with similar coastal properties nearby. Cons • Missing hair conditioner. The bathroom amenities include body lotion instead of conditioner, so pack your own if you need it. • Street-noise bleed. The charming riverside road below can get lively; older window frames don’t block sound completely, so light sleepers may want earplugs or a higher floor. Would I stay again? Yes—those river views and roomy quarters outweigh the minor bathroom and noise quirks. Just remember to bring conditioner and ask for a room on an upper floor if you’re sensitive to sound.
