Nice breakfast and lunch too Stephandis was a gent very friendly and polite.

“Relaxing stay”

We visited this hotel for a week over Easter and have a great stay. We arrived very late at night, at check in there were sandwiches available but these all were cheese and ham so not good for the vegetarians, when we got to our room there was a bottle of wine and water provided. The room was nice with a good size balcony, the only let down with our room was the shower had a shower curtain, reception were helpful and did show us another room we could move to with a shower cubicle but this was only after a couple of days so by that time we couldn’t really be bothered to move. We upgraded to the All inclusive plus, which gave you better coffee, premium alcohol, nicer cocktails and bottles of wine with dinner, the safe in the room and priority late checkout. There was always a great choice of food with lots of salads and hot dishes and loads of pudding. There was plenty of choice for vegetarians. The staff were always really friendly, not sure of all of there names but George looked after us very well. There are lots of cats and ducks. The hotel is right on the beach with plenty of sunbeds. Overall we had a wonderful week and would return but probably not in the summer when it’s really busy. We had asked if there was any chance of a late checkout and we were told we would have to ask the night before we left, when we did ask they said no, not even an hour, check out was 11 and check-in from 3. We were a bit disappointed in this being as we had paid the extra charge and they wouldn’t even allow a couple of hours and people that were arriving at 11 were being allowed to check in and go to there rooms, We even had a call at 10.45 to remind us about the 11 o’clock checkout which wasn’t really needed. But apart from the few gripes we did have a lovely relaxing week in the sun with plenty of nice food and drinks.

“A long honest review”

So lets start with the journey to the hotel. Its approx. 35-50 minutes by car or a bit longer if your being taken by coach or shared taxi. Check-in was easy and once the armband (depending on what you have paid for) is on your shown the way to your room and left alone. Now our room the Double/Twin Room with Balcony/Terrace and Mountain View was in the other block of the 2 which make up the hotel. A lift to the second floor helped get there with ease and rooms are well numbered. Now come my first small gripe, the room. It was clean, but there was a small amount of mould on some sealant above the balcony door. The room was also nothing like the pictures that are shown, from what I can make out there is a variety and shapes for the same named room. Ours was a bathroom one end with a small walkway with a wardrobe and then the 2 single beds pushed together and a TV on the wall and a small couch under the TV and opposite the bed. There was then two doors that lead to a balcony which looked onto the main road and above the buildings opposite was a small view of the mountains. (Would have been nice if a mattress topper had been put over the 2 singles to make it feel more like 1 bed). The view was ok but the daily noise from the main road and the property opposite (2 maybe 3 dogs) meant there was noise all day and well into the night. This was either the dogs barking or vehicle coming and going. (There is a street food place to the left and they seemed to do deliveries and where open well past midnight). The bathroom was a good size and the shower had to heads (a fixed rain forest and the other was flexible), I would say that if your a person on the larger size the shower maybe a little tight. During our stay we had to ask for the shower to be fixed as one of the shower head wouldn't stay at the height you wished and the drainage was broken and they come and fix the shower head but not the drainage. We had to be careful when we showered but if you had children they could have easily hurt themselves if their foot slipped into the drainage hole. (See pics) Tip bring your own shampoo and soap etc. There is a small kettle and some cups and glasses in the room which is helped along with a small fridge which allows you to keep some drink cold (or food). There wasn't an iron or board in our room but a quick trip to reception soon sorted this out. The block we were in has the small indoor swimming pool and even though it says heated, I feel this is stated wrong, it seems they heat the room and not the pool and due to the size the noise can be very acoustic if their are a few people in it. The indoor gym looks ok and clean (as I didn't use I cant comment on what it was lacking etc etc). The wellness part is not manned (when I was there), and you had to go to reception to book a date and time and await a reply before it is confirmed. There is a small games room with a pool table (2x1 euro a game) a table tennis table and a few grabber games and such, but the pool table had a rip in the surface but was clean and useable but felt price was expensive tbh. The outside is nice on either side of the road/complex is a small outside pool with loungers, the outside bar has some tables and chairs and the wind breaker did really help at this time of the year as the weather was on and offable. However both pools at this time of the year are very cold and only for the brave. The split beach with loungers were nice and useable with umbrellas also helping to make shade if you needed it. I would now like to point out that when I booked the holiday all I saw was the all inclusive or bed and breakfast option (I used holiday pirates) so when I got their to find that this was one of the many so called "all inclusive" hotels that now had the all inclusive plus option. Therefore I feel I was mislead a lot about what drinks that where going to be available to me. According to the photo and such that are show I thought there was a lot more alcohol option to me (especially the cocktails). This is not the case and on the basic all inclusive option the options are as followed,coffee teas etc from a machine which you help yourself to (note there is no decaf option). Wine and beer on draught which again you help yourself too. But they are local brands and where not to my taste. (the beer felt very very gassy). The limited option of alcohol drinks that you could have where also not the best as again they where local products and they felt very cheap compared to what the +plus option was. I therefore saw many people on both all inclusive or plus either buy their own mixers and/or alcohol to make it more enjoyable. I did however find one of there cocktails "Exotic Sense" a drinkable options even though it was a bit sweet (rum, pineapple and mango syrup with lemonade). I would suggest anyone wanting to drink their favourite tipple to make sure they get a list of what is on both the basic and plus inclusive option as I noticed that even with plus they didn't offer a reasonable brandy (i.e. metexa or three barrels which I would class as drinkable). All inclusive food seems to not have changed very much in over 20 years in Europe on the way they do there food options. Three meal times a day with a few snacks and ice cream for the rest of the day. The food was not varied that much from day to day except the for different meat or how it was cooked. Most of the time the food was warm but not hot. And if you where unlucky to get to something that had almost run out you either had to take that or hope that a new batch was brought out. If some items of food had been sat under the heating lamp for a while this made some food a lot harder than they should be. (Example of this was the breakfast croissants and the pan du chocolate, they where sometimes where warm and soft as they should be or like bricks. Entertainment was varied and ok. But its on a 1 week cycle so if your there for longer than 7 days you will repeat the same entertainment. The staff where always pleasant with some more helpful than others, but that could be down to them being new to the job as I got told a lot of the old faces have gone in the past few seasons. The bar staff where always working hard. The downside was that as soon as the entertainment had finished (10-10.30pm) the bar was soon shut at 11pm and not longer after that they started turning the lights of and security would be in your ear about making to much noise. This may have been due to the entertainment being inside at the early start of the season where noise travels up into the room and come the height of the season people would be more willing to sit outside and continue with the drinks and conversation without to many problems. The surrounding village was nice and had shops for everything you could think of from food/drink/clothes/souvenirs etc. The tavernas where just starting to open down the beach front in both directions. There is a local bus that can take you away from the village, but if it is full you will need to wait for the next one or pay for a taxi which on average will cost you 35 euro's for 2 people (i.e. a car) or 50 euros for a minibus. (The price quoted was to get to Chania). I therefore think this hotel would rate more as a 3-3.5 star hotel which has kept to things that they are good at and even gave me a nostalgic feel of hotels some 20 years ago. There was nothing special about the hotel that made me feel I would come back, everything was screaming at me outdated and overrated after reading other peoples reviews before booking. As they say sometimes its the people you meet that make a holiday, and this was very much the case.
