“An excellent choice in Chania”

My wife and I spent five nights at Casa Delfino in May, 2026. I recommend the hotel. Our room was the Penthouse Suite. It’s accessible via an elevator – a nice touch, since not all the rooms have elevator service. The lower level had a window that looked into a light shaft, but it was adequately lit. It had a desk – useful for my computer needs, and a half-bath. There was a sectional couch which was useful for trip planning. The coffee maker and mini-bar were on the lower level, along with an armoire useful to store your jackets. Upstairs, the actual bedroom was rather cramped. The bed took up most of the space, and an armoire was wedged in on the right of the bed. So, all of our clothing needed to be accessed from the right side of the bed. Lighting in the bedroom (at night) was somewhat poor. There was a “starlight” ceiling that looked nice, but didn’t put out much light. And, to go with the starlight motif, the bedside lights were “star-like”. They lit the room to a point, but not enough for me to be able to read in bed. I found the bed comfortable. The bath consisted of two rooms – on the left, a brightly lit room with a jacuzzi tub and a long counter with a single sink. On the right, a smaller room with a sink, the toilet, and the shower stall. Having two sinks upstairs was nice – so the wife and I didn’t conflict. And, my wife insists that I mention that the hair dryer rocked and that the towels were great (this coming now after several hotels with less than great towels). From the bedroom you had access to a nice sized terrace, with views of Chania harbour. The weather didn’t cooperate for us – we only could enjoy the terrace on two of our five days. It was delightful. That said, the public terrace of the hotel looks down on this terrace, so that people would see you reading or doing whatever. Conversations from above also were clearly heard on the terrace and in the room (if the windows were open). I decided it didn’t bother me, but it might bother you. The HVAC in the suite worked quietly and effectively. So, all told the physical attributes of our room were satisfactory. Where the hotel shines, though, it through its staff. Every single person we interacted with was friendly and helpful – sometimes extraordinarily so. The breakfast spread – much of it homemade from the kitchen right in the hotel – was exceptional. I don’t think I had a single breakfast item that wasn’t terrific. The hotel provided us useful dinner recommendations. The hotel has an off-property parking area, that was very useful. They will guide you there when you arrive, and then take you and your luggage back to the hotel in a golf cart. I’d gladly come back to Casa Delfino.

We recently travelled to Chania with another couple and stayed at this property. When we got out of the taxi, we were greeted by a hotel representative and escorted to the property. They recommended several restaurants for dinner. Each morning we were treated to a wonderful home cooked breakfast with a vast selection! Chania is a beautiful place, and it was made better by the way were treated by everyone at Casa Delfino. We even received a personal tour from the owner! You will not regret staying here.

When you find perfection you go back over and over again and this is what we have done. We spent 4 nights here again this year and loved every moment. Rooms are beautifully appointed, spotless, modern, beautiful finishes, super comfy bed and amazing bathroom. The wonderfully renovated premises are exquisite - the best in the old town. Breakfast is also fabulous as you have an abundance of choice, quality and flavours to start the day as you gaze outside and secretly wish you could stay there forever. I tried the spa services again this year and convinced my husband to come along - not surprising he loved it! Well worth taking the time to book this into your experience. Worth a stay to experience not only the old world charm of this unique hotel but also to experience the wonderful hospitality of Margarita and her professional and dedicated team. This business is definitely a stand out in Crete and I would say “best in breed”

“Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Chania”

Chania was the second stop on a trip to Crete with my 19 year old daughter. We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The beautiful hotel is situated in the pedestrianised centre of Chania, a short walk from the harbour. Parking was straight forward - initially in public parking 5 minutes walk away from the hotel, and then the staff helped us move round to the hotel’s own parking which is a little further away but where we were offered use of the golf buggy style transport to get to and fro! Very handy. Our room was quite traditionally furnished in the main room, had a huge comfy bed, with a jacuzzi style bath and shower. Plenty of space in the room and a small balcony with seating which I enjoyed sitting out at. Breakfast was served in the outside courtyard though there was an inside space too had it been wet. Food was lovely, not a huge selection, but lovely. The location of the hotel was perfect, everything was a short walk away. And the customer service of the staff members was wonderful, helping with recommendations of a local gorge walk and just generally being so friendly, we were able to check in early too with a complementary bottle of wine. The only reason I put four stars was because the WIFI was patchy in the room. I didn’t come to Crete of course for the internet, but sometimes nice to message the husband who had stayed at home.
