Delightful hotel. Staff were all very friendly and charming. Room was stunning and the actual hotel was perfect. Roof top area added to the ambiance as well. Excellent breakfast also.

We had a great experience with just a few pieces of feedback. First the positives: As everyone else has reported, the hotel itself is beautiful and historic and management is eager to please and staff is friendly and accommodating. They even went out of their way to connect us to a local dive shop when one of the dive shops canceled our previously-booked excursion with less than a day's notice. The location is amazing. The rooms are clean. We had a great time here and always felt taken care of. The breakfast options were fresh and tasty. Just a very few suggestions and slightly negative feedback: -From inside our room (19) the hotel can be loud. Most of the time this wasn't a problem for us as we were up early and out of the room exploring, but a few times during the day it was disruptive when we were trying to rest. I think because the floors are marble throughout, and the layout of the room spaces, sound travels and echoes. This could be challenging for travelers with small children and those with noise sensitivity. Perhaps management might add a sign warning guests that sound travels when they are in the hallway area. Also, perhaps a few area rugs might dampen the sound. -Right outside the threshold of our room there was a small step down that was unexpected. We almost tripped several times. In looking at some of the other rooms, ours appeared to be the only one with this small ledge. I think a warning to guests that it could be a hazard would be helpful. -I agree with another review that suggested changing the bathroom layout by removing the tub to make the shower less hazardous and more functional. The shower was hard to get in and out of because of the tub and it could use a refresh as some of the tiles around the base of the showing appeared to be separating from the base. -We went during off-season and the breakfast was not quite as robust as we expected, but it was still great. -A suggestion to management, some of the food-handling staff could use additional training on food safety and handling. I won't go into details but just basic best practices (not handling food with bare hands, not handling food if sick, being aware that guests may notice these types of details, etc). Despite these suggestions, overall it was an excellent experience and we would stay there again.

“Beautiful hotel right in the heart of Chania”

Chania was the second stop on a trip to Crete with my 19 year old daughter. We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The beautiful hotel is situated in the pedestrianised centre of Chania, a short walk from the harbour. Parking was straight forward - initially in public parking 5 minutes walk away from the hotel, and then the staff helped us move round to the hotel’s own parking which is a little further away but where we were offered use of the golf buggy style transport to get to and fro! Very handy. Our room was quite traditionally furnished in the main room, had a huge comfy bed, with a jacuzzi style bath and shower. Plenty of space in the room and a small balcony with seating which I enjoyed sitting out at. Breakfast was served in the outside courtyard though there was an inside space too had it been wet. Food was lovely, not a huge selection, but lovely. The location of the hotel was perfect, everything was a short walk away. And the customer service of the staff members was wonderful, helping with recommendations of a local gorge walk and just generally being so friendly, we were able to check in early too with a complementary bottle of wine. The only reason I put four stars was because the WIFI was patchy in the room. I didn’t come to Crete of course for the internet, but sometimes nice to message the husband who had stayed at home.
