My wife and I stayed in room 111 from 4 to 8 June 2026. The resort boasts a heavenly setting, with lots of attractions located nearby. The spacious hotel rooms and onsite restaurant are first-class, as is their friendly and attentive staff. The room was spotless and we never heard other guests. The bed was super comfy and FINALLY getting to stay in a hotel room with a large bathroom complete with a bathtub + separate shower, we found 5-star for Greece! We were also impressed with having a kettle and a Nespresso machine in our room, as hotels in Greece generally don't bother with in-room tea & coffee making facilities. One soon gets the impression that the owner and management totally understand the needs of their target market. Each room has a lovely private balcony with mountain- and limited sea views. Also, the hotel offers ample secure parking, which is a huge bonus when staying on Crete! The large sparkling swimming pool is a highly valued addition to their facilities. A refreshing dip after your round will be much appreciated during the warm summer-months. With the new international airport (opening soon) just around the corner, accessibility won't be an issue - but to be fair, the scenic 30-ish minute drive from Heraklion with roadworks and all wasn't a train smash either. Now for the most important part: their golf offering. The course is well maintained and definitely worth playing at least twice. It's a reasonably short, yet challenging par 71 parkland design that places a premium on accuracy. Strong iron-players will simply love this course as most holes are fairly tight off the tees and you truly want to stay out of the unforgiving rough! The postcard-perfect mountainous landscape, countless olive groves and the odd glimpse of the Aegean combine perfectly to create a blissful Mediterranean feel to the course. The interesting green complexes are in excellent condition, although the greens are somewhat on the slow side. The course architect definitely has a thing for bunkers as there are more than plenty abound - with the sand being on the heavy side, these too take some getting used to. Many of the holes are creatively designed with all natural elements considered, especially the wind. You'll need to put your thinking cap on when playing here. All-in-all, Crete GC is a gem of a course that you'll want to play at least twice (3 or 4 rounds are recommended though). We would definitely return one day and can highly recommend booking at least 4 or 5 nights at Crete GC & Hotel - or stay even longer if you want to take some quality time off between your rounds to enjoy the nearby beaches and explore the eastern and central parts of the island. Tip - take a day off and drive approx. 40 min. the scenic coastal town of Agios Nikolaos and go on a morning catamaran cruise to Spinalonga Island and back, then take the remainder of the day to return to the hotel via Mitros (on the south coast) and Kastelli (central part of Crete, just south of the hotel where the new airport is being developed). The mountain roads are in good condition - stay on the main roads though - and the breathtaking scenery is definitely worth the drive.
