We have just returned from Aquila Elounda Village, the location of this hotel is stunning we upgraded to a mythica superior room with a sea view the room was at the back of the hotel with stunning views over the roof of the main building out towards the sea, the room was large with a shower, bath and 2 sinks ( my only issue was the clear glass door to the toilet). We stayed half board because we don't drink alot and my wife doesn't eat lunch very often so all inclusive would not have been value for money but given the price of the drinks at the main bar I wish we had booked all inclusive I paid 28 euros for a vodka and cranberry and a southern comfort and coke. If we were hungry at lunch then the beach bar is pretty good value for money (just don't buy the ice cream 20 euros for 4 small scoops). The breakfast and dinners in the main buffet restaurant were very good and there was always plenty of choice, the staff in the hotel were excellent and very friendly. The pool area has plenty of sunbeds providing you were down early enough to get one as the area filled up quickly but there are plenty more terraces and also the jetty and to be fair you could always get a bed somewhere. The entertainment at night could have been better but it was better than none, we did go to the Greek night where there was plenty of food and Greek dancing. Overall we had a good holiday and would definitely consider coming back but definitely all inclusive. We booked this through Jet2 and at no point did we have any contact from their rep  which was disappointing.

Stunning location. Set out so it feels spacious and never felt overcrowded. Has a pool with the standard tussle for a sun bed - plenty more down by the beach. Stunning location. Set out so it feels spacious and never felt overcrowded. Has a pool with the standard tussle for a sun bed - plenty more down by the beach. Food was great - you might struggle a bit more if you are vegetarian or vegan if you don’t like salad. Food labelled well for allergens. Staff are lovely but clearly overworked and running around, drinks do take a while and often arrive after you have finished eating or with the wrong drink. Staff are so busy you feel bad saying anything and I felt really sorry for them. Tables often not set and ready to receive guests. Just seemed to be no method to how staff worked. Room service finishes at 10pm. Room was clean enough. Spa is lovely but very expensive. There are organised trips but often no availability. Not 5 star service sadly but 5 star price, there will be nicer hotels that are cheaper.

Arrived mid afternoon and greeted with a friendly receptionist who offered a well needed glass of bubbly . We had upgraded to a sea view room after reading some of the reviews , we were shown to our room which did have a beautiful view of the bay . We quickly unpacked and headed off to the snack bar towards the beach where we were told food service stops at 1600hrs unsual for a five star hotel offering all inclusive which we always stay with. In the room we had found 2x very small packs of sultanas but we ended up at the hotel shop for a snack . The hotel shop and the staff were excellent during our stay and cannot thank them enough . We went for dinner that night and as we were celebrating our 36 wedding anniversay, mentioned it at reception on our return a bottle of Bubbly was waiting for us from the management team, lovely surprise . The food the next morning at breakfast was lovely and a big thankyou to the lady cooking the omlettes which were delicious , In the main buffet we mainly used and found the food very good the service also good and the variety excellent . The second night we had a few issues with the bathroom drain overspilling onto the floor ,they sent someone that evening so we thought it was resolved ,we also noticed cracked tiles , over enthusiastic attempt to fill cracks with sealant &strangely they had painted the bottom of the bath to hide the cracks . Over the two weeks of our holiday the paint had flaked off completely and we were using towels to contain the drain . The two restarants, the Mirabella we found faultless & a big thankyou to The Captain and his staff . The symposium although the food was ok the service was terrible . The grill although we were all inclusive was an additional charge so we didnt visit . Greek night we visited twice the first week the service was good as was the food ,the second week the service was hit and miss and not so enjoyable . The pools in the Photos look amazing but in reality you can only swim in two the other a glorified plunge pools , the two next to the restaraunts are purely for decoration .Get up early to reserve your sunbeds as towels appeared from 0700hrs onwards . I swam in the sea and snorkelled most mornings ,the beach is man made shingle leading to a very rocky sea bed , On the odd morning after strong winds there was Jetsam in the water which was sad as the water could be very clear and there was plenty of fish to see. The pool bar didnt open till 1030 in the morning some days staff appeared to serve around 1100 other times we went to the bar to obtain drinks . The gardens , were beautiful as was the main bar , also the staff in the main bar and waitresses were brilliant . We have travelled around the greek islands and the mainland for many years and unfortunately we were disappointed by our stay .tips Be wary of rooms facing the derelict building ,not the hotels fault but an eyesore all the same . Visiting Spinalonga is a must , dont use a tour ,get the bus or taxi to the harbour there are plenty of boats to take you there . Get up early for the sunrise its well worth it . if the hotel refurbs the rooms,deals with the service issues,maybe one day we may return
