The hotel is very clean and peaceful but the room that we want to book is the room aboard the sea but the reception reports everyday the room and something that I didn’t like is the lifeguard yells at me I hate him when he’s yelling just because I went to the wrong zone in the sea

We had a fantastic time at the Pilot Beach Resort, the beach is pretty much on your doorstep! The pools are large and fun for everyone. The resort is surrounded by simply stunning views and gives some great photo opportunities! All the staff are great, very attentive and welcoming. The different restraunts offer a huge variety of food so hats off to the hard working chefs! Rooms are clean and offer some great views of the beach and surrounding areas. We would love to go back, which we hope will be very soon!.

“Nice hotel but let down in a couple of areas”

Just got back from a 10 night stay at Pilot Beach Resort. This place is a 5 star hotel but it is let down in a couple of areas. Location wise, it is only 1 mile away from Georgioupolis. Unfortunately, there isn’t a nice walking route into the town square. You can walk down the beach but wouldn’t be able to do this on an evening without getting sand all over feet/shoes and would have to walk through bits of water etc. there is a road to walk down, but it isn’t the best as narrow road and can be busy with traffic. But it is only €6 in a taxi so may be the better option. The positives are: The rooms are clean & modern with daily cleans & towels replenished on the majority of days The pool areas and grounds are absolutely fine & well maintained Plenty of clean & comfy sunloungers and these don’t all get taken very early, so that is a plus. The entertainment team work hard and put on various activities throughout the day. They ask to join in but aren’t over zealous like other resorts trying to pressure you, they accept the first no Also, there are nightly entertainment acts on to keep guests entertained. The biggest plus is the kids are able to eat from the snack bar at lunch time regardless of board basis. This is a fantastic benefit to this hotel. The let downs: The service in the restaurants are lacking. The wait staff can be somewhat abrupt at times, remove cutlery if leave them on your plate but don’t replenish them. Not ideal on a buffet if you go away to get more food. The food is also hit and miss. Whilst there is a good variety each meal time, a lot of the time it is luke warm rather than hot. But I suppose that is the same as any other buffet service as it is catering for the masses. Finally, if you have a late flight, the facilities to get ready after check out are appalling. After enquiring at reception to see if there was the option of a shower room to book, I was informed there are showers in the building under the pool bar with clean towels. There is a room with 3 different shower rooms in it. However, only 2 of those were accessible and weren’t in the cleanest or best state (few tiles missing and shower screens have seen better days). You had to change in the same place as showering so the humidity did not make it easy to dry off & get dressed. Also there was a fair few families waiting to use these poor facilities. For a hotel of this size and star rating, it is unacceptable. Overall, I would rate this hotel as 4/5. It is a nice place but the downsides really do let it down.

This was our second year staying at Pilot Beach, and we clearly enjoyed our first visit enough to book again. We had another good holiday, but unfortunately it wasn’t as good as our first stay. We knew when we booked that it wasn’t quite the same as our previous visit, but for a hotel that’s supposed to be five-star, we felt standards had dropped more than expected. Small touches were missing too. Last year we received a complimentary bottle of Pilot olive oil when we checked out, but this year there was nothing. More importantly, the check-out experience was very abrupt – just a quick “see you later.” We checked out at 10am, but our transfer wasn’t until 8pm. That evening we went for dinner, and when we explained to the waiter that we had already checked out, he was abrupt and made us feel like we shouldn’t have been there. It ended in an argument, which is not what you expect from a five-star hotel. I spoke to the captain, who told us to just leave it and enjoy our dinner. However, after we’d finished eating and were getting ready to leave, he came back and told us we needed to pay. I explained that if there was a charge, this should have been made clear before we ate, not afterwards. We then went to reception, where the receptionist was rude. I explained that nobody had told us the evening meal wasn’t included and that, on our previous stay, dinner on departure day had been included. There were several other families doing exactly the same as us and only paying for their drinks, as you normally do on the half-board package. Eventually, the manager came over, apologised, and resolved the situation. However, it left us feeling as though he was personally paying for our meal, when all of the confusion could have been avoided by simply telling guests at check-out that dinner on the day of departure was no longer included. Instead, we were left feeling embarrassed, as though we’d tried to avoid paying a €30 bill. The post-check-out shower facilities were also disappointing. They were basic and gave the impression that once you’ve checked out, the hotel is no longer interested in you. Overall, we still had a good holiday and we like the location, but unfortunately, because of the decline in service and the way we were treated, we won’t be returning. We’ve stayed in enough five-star hotels to know what that level of service should look like, and unfortunately, Pilot Beach no longer meets that standard.
