Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week holiday at the Albatros 19th September. We had a superior room on the 4th floor overlooking the pool. Room was lovely and spacious with ample storage for the two of us. On entry there was a small alcove housing mini fridge (very useful), free safe and kettle with 2 mugs - (didn’t use their tea bags as always take our own, no coffee sachets provided). Can buy 6 x large bottles of water from hotel for €1.90 which they deliver to your room. Full size ironing board with iron in wardrobe. Bathroom had shower over bath, hair drier and shaving mirror, 1 x bathrobe supplied + slippers for both Bed huge (2 pushed together) was on the firm side (which we prefer) and was very comfortable- slept well. TV on wall but limited channels in English so didn’t use it Loved the food and the restaurant area - we were half board (could swap evening meal for lunch which we did a few times). Unlike many larger hotels where dining room resembles a brightly lit canteen, the restaurant ambience was lovely, with the option to eat outside in a low lit area - background music playing and proper cloth tablecloths. I know many people have commented that the food is not hot, it was fine for us and there is a microwave for those who need to have their food scolding hot! Lots of choice with local dishes, yummy salads and a live cooking station. Limited entertainment- which again suited us as we don’t like to hang around the hotel every night - we enjoyed the duet singers and watched a little bit of the Greek dancing. In the daytime there was water aerobics a couple of times a week which was fun, also 20 min free wine tasting and Greek cooking talk. Pool area was nice with music playing from pool bar. Sunbeds are a bit close together as there is limited space, but we always managed to find one and the way the sun moves across the building means there are plenty of options to be either in the sun or in the shade. Gym was a bit disappointing with weights only going up to 5kg a multi gym machine and some cardio machines so be prepared to improvise if you’re into ‘training’ We found all staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful Location is perfect - didn’t realise Hersonissos is such a big popular place with loads of shops and bars, was glad our hotel was at the end of this by the harbour so nice and quiet. We preferred to go to the 3 smaller villages half hour walk inland up the hill for lovely tavernas and views (hotel will call you a taxi - €12 each way if you don’t want to walk). Didn’t like the look of Hersonissos beach for sunbathe (narrow and gritty sand), so we used to take to bus back towards Heraklion and get off at stop number 1 (€2), beautiful soft sand beach opposite ‘The Twins’ bar with shallow entry to sea, sun beds €8 for set, very quiet hardly anyone there - close to airport so see the planes coming in. Bus stop is close to hotel with good bus service which is nice if you want a day off sunbathing to go exploring. All in all we had a great stay and would return - thank you Albatros

“Excellent hotel and location”

The staff at the Albatros are excellent. They will make sure your stay is the best. The rooms are very good and the seaview rooms are very good. The food is also excellent This hotel was the last hotel of our 3 weeks car tour of Crete. We will be returning to the Albatros next year

We stayed here in October for 5 nights. It's a spotless clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was tasty but needed to be warmer. Dinner was very good and food was kept much warmer .Comfortable sunbeds and plenty to go around. Pool was chilly so maybe consider heating this in cooler mo… more

We stayed here in October for 5 nights. It's a spotless clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was tasty but needed to be warmer. Dinner was very good and food was kept much warmer .Comfortable sunbeds and plenty to go around. Pool was chilly so maybe consider heating this in cooler months ? Hotel is in a great location ,short walk to beach and sea front bars and restaurants. Nice large room with comfy bed. We would stay here again.
