Bellos is a great hotel with attentive staff, 2 great pools and pool bars. Plenty of space at the garden pool. Slides turn on at 11am at the other pool. Rooms tired but great size (1bed apt pool view) Our second time here and would return again. Beware those with mobility issues or unfit, it’s very hilly, the nearest shop is down the hill to the right, carry on down what looks like a derelict street to the main Harbour, full of bars and a little tacky but lovely restaurants either side. Old chersonnisos centre/square is lovely, as is Koutaloufari and Piskopiano villages. You can walk up hill to piskopiano but we just got taxis 10euro each way, hotel will call a taxi, never waited more than 5/10mins, taxi driver will give you their card and you can call them for return pick up, they just give you their reg number, again never waited more than 10mins. Water park is 10 mins away, ideal size, 20euro for taxi. Self catering family of four can eat out for around 80/90euro All in all a great place but avoid the harbour if you don’t like bars and busy tourism

Lovely place to stay. Apartments are small but functional and clean. No sunbed wars and two good pools for either relaxing or fun on the slides. Lovely place to stay. Apartments are small but functional and clean. No sunbed wars and two good pools for either relaxing or fun on the slides. The staff definitely make the place, can’t do enough for you. Food and drinks are alright and averagely priced. 10 minute walk down to a large supermarket but walk back up the hill a little tougher, save some energy for the last 300m. Central Hersonissos a dump, never seen rubbish like it. Cleaner and nicer away from the centre front. Good long beach past the harbour. We ate mostly up in Piskopiano and Koutouloufari about 10 min walk up the hill, more aligned with the culture and feels less commercialized.

We arrived about 10.30pm and were asked if we wanted food restaurant still open until 11.30pm. Our room was studio double bed and single bed was very small and only cupboard space enough for two people I had to live out my suitcase whilst there. Pool bar open 11.30-6 young girl working there is so friendly she comes round asking if you want anything, can eat or drink at sunloungers as well as pool bar. She also brings a free shot round for everyone in the afternoon. This was at pool area up the top which is quieter than pool with slides. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Entertainment starts at 10.30 and goes on until about midnight. We only had food at pool bar chips are really good pizza, burgers okay. Towels changed every 3 days but beds made everyday with floor cleaned and toilet roll given everyday. Very big hill to walk down if you want to go down to harbour, shops, bars and restaurants. 10 euros back in a taxi as is quite a big hill and is also dark. Found hersonissis to be mostly just bars/restaurants that turn into clubs quite a lot of young people there but we were away by the time it turned into clubs. Can’t fault the hotel at all but the area for shops etc wasn’t that impressed

Nice, chilled family friendly hotel not too far from Hersonissos centre and the villages of Koutouloufari, Piskopiano and Old Hersonissos. Good range of facilities, football pitch, tennis area, pool tables and ping pong. There are 2 pool areas, one with water slides and baby pool and other more relaxed pool for swimming and baby pool. Both have bars. Food in the on site restaurant is reasonably priced and nice. All the staff were lovely. Kostas at slides pool bar makes the most amazing white wine sangrias and mojitos!! There is entertainment on each evening and a Cretan dance/bbq night. We were in one of the top studio rooms. It was quite small but ok and had a balcony and blackout curtains which are important ! There are a lot of steps to get to these rooms and steep slopes getting in and out of the complex also. Hersonissos harbour and the villages are within walking distance if able but is a very steep hill to villages. Cretan Tuk Tuk trips in Piskopiano are a fab way to see the villages. The only downside to our holiday was a boat trip booked with ORANGE TRAVEL in Piskopiano- it was absolutely AWFUL. Told there was bbq and wine. Took 3hrs to get to the boat in Elounda. No bbq - all just handed a paper bag with 2 skewers of tiny fatty pork meat cubes and a small disposable plastic cup of the worst white wine I’ve ever tasted. Everyone was squashed on uncomfortable wooden slatted benches, no sun loungers. Stopped at a tiny overcrowded bay, nothing there, then just anchored at 2 other places-again nothing there except wasps attacking us all. It was thé worst boat trip I’ve ever been on. I complained to the person we booked with but not interested, did nothing apart from an unconvincing ‘sorry’. We will definitely return to Bellos though but will def be avoiding Orange Travel next time!
