I strongly recommend it to those who are looking for peace, in a beautiful environment, whether in a family with children or for couples. If we have the opportunity, we will surely come back here!

Just returned from a 10 nights stay at the mariamare apartments, absolutely amazing! 20 of us arrived (ages ranging from 1-73) a big family holiday! We were welcomed with open arms from start to finish. Maria who owns the apartment was so lovely to my whole family. Rale and Stephanie who run the kitchen and bar are amazing! They work so hard and nothing was too much trouble! They treated my family like family! They became our friends and we were so sad to leave after the 10 days! The apartments are run by the best people! The cleaner is also lovely, are rooms were cleaned every other day, towels and beddings changed and kept are rooms spotless! The staff make your holiday! The apartments itself has the most stunning views, they are breathtaking. The pool was amazing, it was so clean and had plenty of sunbeds for everybody, It also has a park for the little ones. The bar by the pool is great and the prices were brilliant! The food was lovely and great portions! We ate here in the day and also in the evening a couple of night. The apartments are up a hill 10-15 mins down the hill to the main town Stalis, we walked down every night, occasionally getting a taxi back and sometimes walked back. Stalis itself is lovely, had everything we wanted for our family holiday. We had the best 10 days at the mariamare and we will definitely be back! Fantastic location. The views are incredible. You need to be fit, otherwise walking up and down would be problematic. 800m to the sea, plenty of sunbeds available free of charge but you need to buy a drink etc. Worth hiring a quad bikes and exploring Sissi, mountains, local villages. Fantastic location. The views are incredible. You need to be fit, otherwise walking up and down would be problematic. 800m to the sea, plenty of sunbeds available free of charge but you need to buy a drink etc. Worth hiring a quad bikes and exploring Sissi, mountains, local villages. The roads are safe, outstanding scenery and excellent way to see real Crete. The food in the Mariamare apartment is really good. Breakfast is basic but all you need. Dinners are cooked fresh each evening, also very tasty. Everything is great here. I would come again 😉

Lovely Stay with Stunning Views – But Be Ready for the Climb! ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) We recently stayed at Mariamare Apartments in Stalis, Crete, and overall had a great experience. The pool area is spotless, with plenty of sunloungers and fixed parasols available all day – no need to rush out and reserve anything. The view over the beachfront and Stalis is absolutely lovely, making the pool a very relaxing spot. The pool bar offers a good selection of drinks and a small lunch menu, which we found to be tasty and of a good standard. The evening buffet meal was adequate but not quite to our taste – though it may suit others just fine. The accommodation itself is very clean and comfortable. We had a great night’s sleep on the comfortable beds, and the air conditioning worked really well. WiFi was free and reliable, which was a big plus. The kitchen is well-equipped, including a kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, iron and ironing board – though we were surprised that basics like a tea towel, dishcloth, or washing-up liquid were missing. What really stood out was the staff – they work incredibly hard and are both friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The only downside for us was the location. It’s about an 8-minute walk up a steady incline to reach the apartments from the main road, and another 5-minute walk to reach the centre of Stalis. It’s manageable if you’re reasonably fit, but may not be ideal for older guests or those with mobility issues. Also, transfers drop you off about 500 metres away, meaning you’ll need to walk uphill with your luggage – something to be aware of, especially in the heat. Taxis are scarce, so unless you have a car, walking is your only real option.
