I’ve tried to come up with negatives and I’m struggling! The location is great, right on the beach in a quiet location. We walked down the beach to the nearby village where there are a couple of cafes and restaurants on a pretty marina twice, and also looked up a couple of 1-2 hour local walks for other days. And it’s a 35 minute bus ride at €3 per person into Chania, which is simply stunning for a 1/2 day visit. We didn’t go in the sea as I’m not a beach person, but it is literally at the end of the swimming pool and overlooked by a couple of the restaurants. We sat by the pool mostly and also used the spa and gym, both of which are well-equipped and we were able to use daily due to the resort being quiet in October. On to food and drinks - the inclusive cocktail menu is extensive and the wine in the restaurants the best we’ve ever had in an all inclusive. Normally the red wine is like vinegar and I stick to rose, but here they were each night giving us full bottles of different local wines to try. There’s also a vitamin bar by the pool which was great post workout. The really enjoyed the food. A good range every night and I struggled most times to know what to pick. I’m not a meat eater but there were always vegetarian options while the rest of my family devoured the meat! When we checked in, we were told the whole hotel was closing the day we were checking out and that the a la carte restaurants were closing gradually. This initially worried us and it did get incredibly quiet as the week progressed and no new people arrived to replace those leaving. However, the hotel handled it really well and I don’t agree with other reviews on this. We were given a visit to each restaurant before they closed, so 3 a la carte meals in a week, and once they were closed, the hotel served 3 a la carte option in addition to the buffet in the main restaurant. My sons were very happy to have a freshly cooked steak 3 nights in a row! The staff also remained upbeat, helpful and eager to please despite probably being totally knackered at this stage in the season. If we went back to Crete, I’d be happy to stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful, spacious, and overall it met our expectations to a considerable extent. However, I am lowering my rating mainly because of the staff’s attitude and also because of the hotel’s approach to animals in the surrounding area. The staff appeared very cold. They were professional and usually solved any problem that arose, but they lacked friendliness, smiles, greetings, and the feeling that guests were genuinely welcome. Quite often, I had the impression that I was bothering them. What left an even stronger negative impression on me, however, was the hotel’s attitude toward the cats living around the resort. The cats were clearly hungry, and even very small kittens, approximately two months old, were eating dry bread. I repeatedly informed the hotel about the situation, but I did not notice any real effort to address it. After I submitted my review directly to the hotel, the cats suddenly disappeared; where they went, we can only speculate. I have experience from Rhodes, for example, where the hotel’s approach was completely different — they supported the care of the cats, allowed guests to feed them, and displayed signs explaining that the cats were vaccinated and neutered. In contrast, this hotel in Crete, in my experience, simply left the cats without any care or help, despite the obvious fact that a large amount of leftover food from the hotel operation could certainly have been used more meaningfully. Those of us guests who cared about animals were bringing leftovers from dinner to the cats, especially the kittens, because we genuinely felt sorry for them. The hotel facilities themselves were nice, but this experience has stayed with me very strongly. I would not return to this hotel again. In my opinion, where animals are not respected and cared for, people are unlikely to feel truly welcome either.

We stayed from the 28th of April to the 5th of May. The resort was beautifully maintained and we were delighted with our upgrade to a Seaview room. The food was adequate and we didn’t go hungry. We travelled as a family of three with a seven-year-old. He thoroughly enjoyed the water park, especially the big slides. However, there were a few drawbacks: - The service at the bar in the main reception was slow and, as others have mentioned, they discourage guests from approaching the bar. The pool bar was fantastic and we had no problems there. Some of the à la carte restaurants also had slow service. One lady seemed completely lost and couldn’t figure out which table needed food. She even approached a couple who were still eating their main course and asked if it was their dessert! Despite this, the food was delicious and well presented. One thing to note is that the entertainment options are quite limited but some people enjoy them. To be fair, I was early pregnant and tired, so I went to bed by 9pm after dinner. This suited us. However, if you’re looking for exciting entertainment, you won’t find it here. I feel like this place is primarily aimed at adults and they’ve added a water park for the kids but haven’t really thought about them otherwise. They offer one hour of indoor pool time in the early morning and another in the late evening, but these times are often for breakfast or dinner. I also don’t agree that children aren’t allowed in the indoor pool during the day, especially when the weather is poor. Either move those hours around to help families with children or at least allow an hour in the day. There were no attempts to entertain the kids during this time. Kids’ entertainment is minimal, except for very young children who might enjoy a small disco in a corner. We didn’t do the kids club, but it looked very nice inside.
