It's not very often you stay at a place that ticks all the boxes ,this place does the room was suberb overlooking the pool and sea it had free Aircon and free safe which in Greece is very rare the cleaner came every day and changed the towels the owner and George are very friendly serving snacks and drinks at the pool bar at reasonable prices The hotel it self is located on the main coast road but the road noise wasn't to distracting It's a short walk to the seafront restaurants which we did every night we stayed we would definitely return here next time we visit crete

We had 2 ground floor rooms one looked out over the pool both suitable for disabilities room 106 was my friends room and they could get the wheelchair through the door and they put a shower stool in the bathroom for my friend, the staff are absolutely brilliant and help all they can, no problem getting a sunbed there is a bar, hot tub, swimming pool with a kids section. If you want a party holiday then this is not for you but if you like to just chill it's 1st class, the apartments are spacious, clean, and has enough utensils to cater for 4, the air-conditioning is free, the beds are comfy, and the overall place is amazing. We went on one of the train trips Severn villages and one of the boat trips both of which was really good. Sunny suites is an absolutely amazing place for a chill holiday 100% will go back.

“Good choice for a chilled vibe”

You can see why so many guests return to this hotel. It’s small, relaxed, and has a great atmosphere. The bar team and pool area are excellent. You can see why so many guests return to this hotel. It’s small, relaxed, and has a great atmosphere. The bar team and pool area are excellent. The rooms are quite basic but typical of Greek self-catering accommodation. I must say that trying to contact the hotel before we travelled was difficult. Despite emailing a couple of times, my messages were returned as undeliverable. I also tried WhatsApp but received no reply. To be fair, when I eventually called and spoke to the manager, he arranged a good room for us. What we really liked was that the room was cleaned daily, with fresh sheets and towels provided regularly. Toilet rolls were topped up, and both the pool and hotel grounds were exceptionally clean and tidy. Z at the bar was also very kind and welcoming. What we didn’t like was the awful smell in the bathroom. We’ve visited Greece several times, so we’re used to the occasional drain smell, but our bathroom frequently had a very strong sewage odour, especially overnight. Even keeping the door closed didn’t help. Also, on one evening, the night manager sat in the bar area talking loudly until around 2am, which woke us and several other guests. That wasn’t particularly considerate. Overall, we had a good stay, but there are a few areas that could be improved.

As very seasoned travelers we found our rooms lounge/bedroom/shower quite small compared to many we have stayed in on the Greek Islands, there are others nearby that look better. Our rooms always seemed to have dirty floors as we took white hotel slippers to wear in the rooms and after 2 weeks could not take them home because they were so dirty, the shower was not fixed high up as you would expect, as you had to lift it off from a lower hook and have a hand held shower, bins were emptied daily and towels regularly changed, the terrace for our room was very big as it wrapped around the back and side of the property, which was a plus. The pool area was nice and there was never an issue with getting a sunbed, and you can get snacks and drinks at the pool bar. The nearest big supermarket SYNKA (which stocks most products you would need) is less than a 10 minute walk away after turning right on leaving the property there is also couple of restaurants near the supermarket. There are a few bigger restaurants on the beach front (15-20 mins walk). if you like walking there is a fantastic Greek Taverna (Kaneba) in Tavronitis on the left hand side as you walk into the centre, which is approx 30 mins walk to the left of the property, on your way you will pass the military base. Another place to visit would be Kolymvari where you will find the beautiful Gonia Monastery (4€ entry) which is a 1km from the centre of Kolymvari. Buses are very cheap to get if you do not want to drive, Chania was 5.62€ for 2 one way and is very commercialised and crowded, the port area was full of restaurants but worth a visit. Our main downside was that we had arranged to stay in our appartment until later (instead of vacating at 12noon) at a cost of 30€ which was great (and confirmed) as we had an 11pm flight, but on the day of departure at 10am while on our sun beds we were told we could not stay in our room and they had a studio we could use with no apology what-so-ever, the problem being we had not packed anything and also had food to eat at lunch time and he still expected us to vacate by 12noon, which we did not! To have this happen, completely ruined our last day was unforgiveable by any standards (we did not take the optional room). Will we return to the Sunny Suites? A definite NO! Far too quiet for us, and lack of more local facilities.
