Literally just back from a fantastic week at Sunny Suites. It was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is small, and well run, the apartment (304) was perfect for family of three. Didn’t feel like we were squeezed in, plenty of room. Fantastic free air con, without freezing you at night. Lovely view of the sea etc from the balcony which made morning coffee so much more enjoyable. There is a supermarket just down the road, or a mini market near the beach (which is about a ten minute walk). Bus stop very nearby so you can visit Chania, Plantanias, or kissamos in the other direction. Fully recommend the boat trips from both Chania and Plantanias, we did two and they were both fantastic. Few very good restaurants nearby where you can eat on the beach front, wonderful food. The bar was well stocked, and the bar men were always friendly, as was the hotel cat! We were looking for a chilled week, away from the hustle and bustle of some of the main towns and this hotel was a real find. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again. In addition, they made our last day much less stressful as our flight home was at 5 past midnight, and they let us keep the room for a small fee right up to when our transfer arrived (815pm). It was so much nicer to be able to have another day by the pool and be able to properly shower etc before heading to the airport. Thank you Sunny Suites!

“Perfect, relaxing stay”

I came here for a week with my 16 year old daughter and had a lovely week. I was a bit worried with it just being the 2 of us, but the whole hotel and area felt very safe. I came here for a week with my 16 year old daughter and had a lovely week. I was a bit worried with it just being the 2 of us, but the whole hotel and area felt very safe. The room was clean, pool area suburb - no sun bed wars here! The staff were pleasant, and helpful when needed. It’s a quiet place, if you want all day drinking and a lively nightlife then it’s probably not for you. But as a place to relax and a base to explore this area of Crete it was perfect. There is enough places in Maleme to eat out, we especially enjoyed the ones by the sea watching the sunset. We got the bus in both directions every day to explore different areas which was super easy and cheap.

Great little apartments for a complete chilled break. Ideal base to explore further afield but equally great base to completely chill out. Great sized pool for the size of the apartments Bar staff are amazing, big shout out to George who is on during the day Good location for exploring wider places Cleanliness of the pool area was generally good Use of the sister hotel if needed and wanted which was good There were a few niggles we had which we thought could be improved The cleaners often left the back patio door unlocked so we needed to make sure we checked this Week 1 there was no sunbed towel reserving, week 2 was different with people bringing the towels down and then not going on the loungers for a good few hours. All it takes is one group to do it and it then becomes a problem If you're expecting a lively bustling resort Maleme may not be for you as there is very little in the resort.

“Good choice for a chilled vibe”

You can see why so many guests return to this hotel. It’s small, relaxed, and has a great atmosphere. The bar team and pool area are excellent. You can see why so many guests return to this hotel. It’s small, relaxed, and has a great atmosphere. The bar team and pool area are excellent. The rooms are quite basic but typical of Greek self-catering accommodation. I must say that trying to contact the hotel before we travelled was difficult. Despite emailing a couple of times, my messages were returned as undeliverable. I also tried WhatsApp but received no reply. To be fair, when I eventually called and spoke to the manager, he arranged a good room for us. What we really liked was that the room was cleaned daily, with fresh sheets and towels provided regularly. Toilet rolls were topped up, and both the pool and hotel grounds were exceptionally clean and tidy. Z at the bar was also very kind and welcoming. What we didn’t like was the awful smell in the bathroom. We’ve visited Greece several times, so we’re used to the occasional drain smell, but our bathroom frequently had a very strong sewage odour, especially overnight. Even keeping the door closed didn’t help. Also, on one evening, the night manager sat in the bar area talking loudly until around 2am, which woke us and several other guests. That wasn’t particularly considerate. Overall, we had a good stay, but there are a few areas that could be improved.
