What a wonderful little hotel for a quiet and relaxing home-from-home atmosphere? Manos and his family made the three of us feel so welcome, and were very warm and helpful - service always with a smile. The top floor room was fantastic, quiet and with all we needed, and nice views from the front and back. We really made the most of the lovely pool and surrounding gardens. The hotel is located close to a remarkable little town and port of Sissi. The port even had a dedicated sunset viewing area, which is unmissable around dusk. Not much of a beach nearby, but the port and cafes made up for it. We spent a lot of time in the quaint port area. There were daily buses from the supermarket nearby and easy connections to the main bus routes and other towns. We want to send a big thank you to Manos and his family for making our 10 days there such a pleasure.

Just back from a lovely week at the Marigianna, our first time in Sissi. The apartments are family run and everyone is very friendly and helpful Rooms and pool are are spotlessly clean as is the bar area. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and also many more the other side of the harbour. Our favourites were Amelias and Anatolis and enjoyed watching the football at Junipers We booked a trip to Spinalonga with Stephanos tours which is a 5 minute walk from the apartments. Definitely a place we will return too

We stayed in a self-catering studio that sleeps 4, two flights up. The hotel has no lifts, and although there are handrails to help you up the stairs I'd advise anyone with mobility issues to ask for a ground floor room. The rooms were cleaned every day. There's a lot of info already in previous reviews, so I'm commenting on things that I don't recall seeing before. If you've booked with a tour operator and your transfer detail is a coach, you'll be dropped on the main road. It's a short, 2-3 minute walk to the hotel on a level path. If it's dark, when you turn into the car park look for two black poles with white globes on top, that's the way to reception. If nobody's there, leave your luggage and walk through to the bar area where you'll find someone. Your luggage will be perfectly safe. Again, for people with mobility problems, do note that the walk into Sisi village will involve a descent and ascent along the road. It's a little steep in places, but doesn't take long (10 minutes at a moderate pace). However, there are good restaurants, bars and two incredibly well-stocked supermarkets less than 5 minutes' even walk from the hotel. If you turn right on the main road, there's a shaded walk on the left that goes down to the beach through an apartments/restaurant area, but avoid eating there - we had an almost inedible breakfast on our first day in Sisi, the only time that we had a bad meal in the resort. We had breakfast in the hotel one day. If you have any dietary requirements, I'd advise that you tell the hotel (preferably in advance). The breakfasts are cooked to order, plentiful and good, but they didn't have any decaff coffee nor plant milk (not a problem as I'd foreseen that and brought my own), but neither had I told them in advance. The Carrefour is well stocked with both, if you're self-catering. In our room, there was a kettle and two electric hotplates and a frying pan, and that's all for cooking. Crockery and cutlery supplies good, including a corkscrew/bottle opener. Lots of hot water (also in the bathroom). There was a TV and a safety deposit box. We didn't use either (not sure if they are extra, so if you want them check that out too). We drank the water from the kitchen tap, but boiled it in the kettle first. The fridge stays on, even if you remove the room key. There are plenty of plug points. Lots of hangers in the wardrobe and, unless you've brought Elton John's wardrobe with you, plenty of storage space. We had a dressing table with a big mirror. Some people have mentioned that the beds are rather hard, but I had no difficulty sleeping (and I'm of the princess and the pea sensibility). Being in a 4-bed room meant that we could have doubled up on mattresses if needed, but it wasn't necessary. If you think that you may have a problem, it's worth asking the hotel in advance if you could have two mattresses on your bed, or extra pillows to sleep on. The sofas in our rooms had cushions. We stayed for two weeks in June. Temperatures were in the mid 30s but there was a breeze every day that made walking around very comfortable and kept the room from getting too hot. There is airconditioning (which you pay for per day), but I'd brought a couple of small, portable, rechargeable fans with me. I only used one for when we came back to the room at night - the only time that I found the room a little too hot, and just to cool down a bit. So if you're on a budget, do consider doing the same. There will be a tourist tax to pay when you check out, remember. June is a good time to go. No waiting for a restaurant table, the pool is refreshing - not too cold, not too warm, the nights are long, and that lovely welcome, gentle breeze. I bought a headband from Carrefour to stop my hair blowing everywhere. Restaurants - all served excellent food, with the one exception mentioned earlier. Mainly similar menus, but so much variety there's always a good choice for everyone. Portions are huge - enough for a family to share. Almost all of them will present you (free of charge) with an appetiser (usually bread with two or three dips), a dessert (eg cake and ice cream, or saragli, or fruit, or all of them) and raki or a local liqueur). We stuck to retsina, so can't comment on the local wines although I saw no evidence of bottles being kept on top of the stove (as encountered years ago in another part of Crete). Chairs are the usual ones, rarely anything really comfortable. I have a gel cushion thanks to decades of holidays in Greece, but failing that I sit on a folded beach towel or ask the restaurant for a cushion, or drink enough to numb the bum. The hotel owner and family are all friendly, the bar remained open until the last guest left (3am on one night), we weren't disturbed by noise but take earplugs because we were on the second floor facing away from the bar and pool, the cleaner didn't speak English but google translate helps if you need to communicate with her - she was lovely too. If you like a good long swim, be aware that people do take inflatables and their children into the main pool. Later in the day is more likely to find the pool less busy. Lots of sunbeds and tables and chairs. I couldn't lift the sunbed, but you can always find someone to help. The balconies are small, enough for a table and two chairs, although we had four There's a small washing line for hanging wet clothes, but you'll need to bring your own pegs or buy some from the supermarket. Don't forget that breeze. That's about it.

After years of holidays in big resorts it was a refreshing change to stay at the Marigianna. There are only 24 rooms so the pool was never overcrowded and there was always a sunbed available whatever the time of day. We stayed during the school summer holidays. The staff are friendly and will do whatever they can to make you stay enjoyable. We arrived at 2am, there was no one around, we found our key in the key holder behind reception with a post-it note with our name on, so we took it and made our way to the room. This must be common for late arrivals as I saw other post-it notes on other evenings. There is no lift and there are a lot of stairs, we were on the 3rd floor. Anyone with mobility issues may struggle. The area around the pool and bar is all one level. Sunbeds are piled up, you help yourself, place the sunbed whenever you want to sunbathe (there’s 2 large grass areas) then pop it back when you are done! And they are comfy! Large swimming pool, small kids pool, pool toilets are modern and spotless. Book library located near reception. Bar area has good selection of drinks, prices similar to other local bars. Snacks are available, food was nice but I felt a little overpriced. You cannot bring your own food or drink to the pool, staff will challenge you if they see you do this. There is a lovely bakery accross the harbour, we walked there each morning to buy sandwiches (2.50 euro each). We then ate lunch in our room. We were bed & breakfast, this is served 9-11am, you can have any item from the menu and a tea, coffee or fruit juice. There was no card machine when we were there so cash only at the bar but Manos did say he was hoping to get a card machine soon. Rooms are dated, bit tight on space for us, 2 adults and 2 teenage children but we managed. More wardrobe space would have been helpful but again we managed. The shower was surrounded by a shower curtain on 3 sides so whenever we had a shower the floor got soaked, a mop in the room would be helpful. The shower was powerful and we always had hot water. We didn’t initially buy air-con as it is 10euro per day but after a few days of sleeping with the windows open and being bitten by mosquitos and then a ridiculously hot night we relented and bought air-con. Best decision we made. The Marigianna is a lovely, family run apartments where you are welcomed like family and can truely relax. I wouldn’t hesitate to return 🇬🇷
