“Most friendly stuff”

The stay at Ydor was exceptional. The rooms were clean, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. With Mikes in particular, you could feel that he truly puts his whole heart into his work. This made the stay even more special. Would absolutely recommend this hotel.

“The Perfect Short Break”

Sarah and I had such a fantastic holiday in Kea. Such a great place for a short break — We stayed in the Hydra suite. It was fantastic but the best part was the friendly service of Mariana, Anna, Mohamed, George, Yousef, Mickash and all the team. We loved our stay!

We had a good arrival with welcoming staff. The lobby, pool area and restaurant are beautiful and you can easily walk to nearby restaurants and shops. Everwhere else is only accessible by taxi. Our suite with a private pool was on 2 floors- so a duplex. The pool was not private. Basically there was one pool between 2 suites with a dividing wall in the pool. If you want total privacy this room does not provide it. There are no heated pools here. The decor was lovely. Great sheets but small scratchy towels - not worthy of a luxury hotel. The hotel has been sold and is no longer owner run. This manifested itself in a few ways but one was when we asked for a late check out. We were only given an hour extra and after that it was all payable. We were told this was corpoate policy. We had paid Euro 850 per night and i was curious to know if the room was sold for tonight - that would have justified the mean late check out policy. It was available at a price of Euro 437! I was not happy. Such a shame that when hotels are sold they are more corporate and greed steps in! I did have a great facial and massage. We chose this hotel over the One and Only as the reviews had been so good and the rate was better. Would we come here again? Not sure.

Lovely room with fantastic views over the bay. Food quality good, we had sushi one evening but otherwise we ate at the nearby restaurants/tavernas ( 5 minutes walk) which are surprisingly quite pricey, presumably catering to the yacht crowd who moor up there. Pool is not heated so a bit chilly albeit refreshing. It could do with a bit of a clean up around the edges where algae has gathered but otherwise the pool was beautiful. Staff are unfailingly polite, helpful and efficient from the housekeeping staff (our room was cleaned every morning whilst we were at breakfast) to reception which was impressive given the hotel is clearly understaffed - esp at breakfast, special mention to Krissa juggling multiple orders and tables without complaint. I’ve given a 4* rather than 5* review as to call this hotel a spa hotel is stretching it a bit. I had a massage, it was good however the spa is one windowless room in the basement. There is an indoor pool in the basement but it is locked as is the sauna etc, you need to ask at reception to access I think. I saw no one use it. I didn’t especially want to use these facilities but what I had expected was somewhere to rest for 5 minutes after my massage as that is pretty standard in most spa hotels, possibly also a glass of water or herbal tea. I appreciate that sounds a bit pretentious but what I didn’t expect was the masseuse to remain in the treatment room and prep it for the next client while I got dressed, so that wasn’t a particularly relaxing end to my spa experience. I felt I had better hop off the table and get out quick. Also as the spa area is in the basement it is adjacent to the engine room stuff all hotels have - the door to this was open ( bizarrely the only unlocked open door down there) so it’s not the most welcoming of arrivals, there is no spa reception, you just go down the stairs and then the masseuse appears and unlocks the door to the treatment room. It’s not a great first impression when you’re paying for a de stress massage. So , in short, it’s a lovely hotel but it’s understaffed and the spa concept experience needs a rethink.
