We had a lovely week at the Blue Lagoon Village as a group of 6 (4 adults, 1 toddler, 1 infant). Staff: All the staff were friendly, helpful and great with the kids. Poolside drinks service was excellent and they really made an effort to remember orders. Cleanliness: All the public areas were spotless, constantly being cleaned. Rooms were cleaned very well. Food and drink: Good variety at the buffets, and decent for an all inclusive. Restaurants were quite underwhelming - portions were small and food was very average. The DIY BBQ felt chaotic and it wasn’t particularly busy - think it would be much worse in high season. Crepes and waffles at the Gelateria were nice, but ice cream was cheap and nasty. Nice cocktails and lots of choices for the all inclusive. Pools: Went at the beginning of May so expected them to be a bit chilly, but were unusable levels of cold some days and the kids refused to go in. The ‘heated’ pool in the gym was also freezing. It would have been nice to heat one of the smaller pools for children as they all refused to go in! Rooms: Rooms were modern and clean. The junior suite was spacious and had a nice balcony. The hotel kindly upgraded us to a duplex but didn’t check with us first and it was completely unsuitable for a toddler (stone staircase, no stair gates). Sofa bed hadn’t been made up but housekeeping quickly arrived with bedding. We got moved the next day to a better room on one level, but was up a flight of stairs with no step free access so difficult with a pram. The lock was also broken so our toddler could just wander out right near the swimming pools. Maintenance quickly fixed this for us. Toiletries and towels weren’t refreshed often enough so we were often left without especially as we needed towels for baby and toddler. Some rooms are quite a trek from the main area but there are buggies available to take you around the resort. Step free access to various areas of the hotel requires quite large detours, and lifts are slow due to number of people with prams. Entertainment: Good variety during the day (water sports, darts) and nice tennis courts, padel and crazy golf. €100 cash deposit for padel was ridiculous for an all inclusive hotel where most people won’t have cash. There is an ATM but didn’t want to pay to get cash out that we can’t use. Evenings started too late (9.15) given most people had kids so didn’t see much of it. The acrobats were fun! Kids facilities: Enjoyed the stay and play baby groups. Staff were friendly. The area with water slides looked fun but wasn’t suitable for under 5s. Two little playgrounds under shade were enjoyed. Evening entertainment was identical every night - would have been nice to be more varied. Good changing facilities available across the resort. Don’t forget nappies etc - the shop is a total rip off (€15 for 15 nappies) - I know the hotel says this is outsourced but for a family friendly hotel this is a bit ridiculous. Special mention to the ‘cat station’ where the hotel cats can be seen. This was a lovely addition and our toddler loved watching them!

We recently stayed at this so-called platinum 5-star resort and unfortunately came away feeling very disappointed overall. While the resort itself is pleasant, clean, and the staff are attentive, it simply does not deliver the standard you would expect for the price or 5-star rating. The room was basic and lacked details you would normally expect as standard in a platinum-level resort. There was no stocked mini bar at all, which was surprising, and the bathroom felt poorly designed with no towel hooks anywhere. During the day, activities were extremely limited and the atmosphere around the pools was very flat. One pool had only very low music, and the swim-up pool had none at all. Most resorts create a lively atmosphere around these areas, so this really stood out and made the resort feel lacking in energy. The evening entertainment was another disappointment. It appeared to be mainly performed by the daytime reps and unfortunately came across as amateurish. The singers clearly tried their best, but it was difficult to sit through for long and often resulted in us leaving early and spending the evenings in the lobby bar instead. Food was another area that fell short. The buffet had plenty of choice, but somehow felt repetitive every evening, and most dishes were only lukewarm at best. I personally like my food hot, so this became frustrating very quickly. The Chinese restaurant was particularly disappointing. The starter section was buffet-style with limited options and, again, food that was barely warm. The mains tasted acceptable but had an unusual fruity flavour that’s difficult to describe unless you’ve experienced it yourself. Once again, meals were served warm rather than hot. The barbecue restaurant ended up being our favourite of the speciality restaurants, but even there the experience was mixed. The meat was sliced so thinly that it cooked almost instantly and often became chewy — like chewing on a leather shoelace. Be prepared as well, because cooking is split across separate grills for fish, white meat, red meat, and vegetables, making the whole process feel like a military operation trying to time everything together. On the positive side, the resort grounds were clean and attractive, there were plenty of pools, and we never struggled to find sunbeds. However, I do not believe the sunbeds were cleaned throughout our stay, as several had bird droppings on them for days. Overall, while the resort has some positives, in our opinion it is nowhere near a true 5-star platinum experience and is far too expensive for the level of quality and atmosphere provided.

The positives first as there are many, if your a family with young children this village is ideal, has catered everything towards families, the village is kept immaculately and the staff are excellent, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the village is completely isolated so very safe The downside, if you happen to be a couple looking for restful and relaxing holiday do not bother, for 15 hours a day there is no respite from screaming babies and young children running amok, there are no adult only areas which in a village of this size would not be hard to provide Forget being able to have a relaxing meal and drink at the end of the day, no adult only times in the restaurants or bars, from breakfast to evening dinner you have young children running around the restaurants, it’s an accident waiting to happen In the evening you can’t have a relaxing drink as the main cocktail bar is transformed into a nursery, families bringing their young ones in for a drink as late as 11 pm, if you want a break for a day you need to pay for an expensive taxi as there is no public bus stop near the hotel, and all of the island tour companies don’t pickup at the village, so your only option is TUI very expensive excursions

We travelled as a family group of 4 adults and 4 children first week of May. Hotel grounds and accommodation were absolutely beautiful and it’s a really quick transfer from the airport. My main downside to this hotel is the food, I’m by no means a picky eater none of us are in our party but found the food to be average. The buffet was the main place you can eat there is also a Chinese, Italian and BBQ restaurant that’s bookable. Chinese was nice but after having buffet all week for breakfast and lunch, being served dinner at an à la carte dinning should include the full meal. For both bookable restaurants the staters and deserts are buffet style and therefore everything ran out quickly and again had to wait for it to be replenished. Chinese food was really nice, puddings barely any selection. Italian restaurant was a bit of a disaster we helped ourselves to again buffet starters which ran out do things and were not replenished. We then had to wait an hour and a half for our mains which the they forgot one of and there were plenty of tables tho affected which then meant the next booking of tables were also affected. Having small children and booking the early slots were for a reason and no apologies were made. We didn’t bother with the BBQ restaurant as you have to cook everything yourself and I came on to avoid doing that, also means that a member of your party have to stand doing that the full time Buffet restaurant was ‘fine’ the food is never hot and very samey after having to eat most of your meals in it. Also I don’t think we have one correct drinks order in the entire week, would be easier if you could fill up and do your own, as the staff have to much to do and I would advise perhaps writing down drinks orders to help with this problem. Entertainment was not bad, it’s provided by the hotel rather than TUI. The staff do work incredibly hard. Kids club I would say is fine for under 8’s it’s certainly not geared towards older children. We came the fist week of May and the resort did not have most of the snack bars or beach bar etc open, I do expect that if the resort is open that all of its facilities to be open as well. All in all beautiful resort with very friendly staff but would not return. We went to Rhodes last year with the TUI Atlantica Dreams and I would recommend that resort over this, if anyone was looking for something similar.
