Just returned from enjoyable 2 week, all inclusive stay at Blue Lagoon Village, Kos with family group of 12. Food and drink good but wouldn't say 5*; location good as only 15 mins from airport; room very good; facilities very good with several large pools; and service excellent. All waiters & waitresses I came across were courteous, attentive and efficient. “Lovely resort- very pricey!”

We have had a wonderful stay in Blue Lagoon Village, beautiful views of the sea and mountains. Very clean and great all round service by staff. All pools and pool areas clean. Lots of loungers so not the typical sun lounger rush! We mainly ate in the main restaurants, lots to choose from however having the same food day after day is boring, food lacked flavour and was bland. On-site shop VERY expensive, €45 for large kids swimming float, €5.50 for a bar of chocolate and €5 for a packet of crisps!(Nothing priced). Entertainment was OK, nothing special or exciting mostly in house entertainment (entertainers were great but again the same singing and dancing every night) for a 5* resort we expected more however ‘Rock journey’ show was brilliant!

Do not come here if you’re expecting a five star hotel. At most it’s an average 3 star. We visited in mid May and although it did have some positive bits, most was under our expectations. The journey from the airport was good and only took 20 mins which was a deciding factor for us when looking at hotels. However, as soon as we arrived the receptionist asked for a 70 euro holiday tax and rushed us straight to the restaurant if we wanted dinner. The room itself was a good size with lots of wardrobes for five people and clean but a bit run down in areas where wallpaper was peeling off or the paint needed a touch up. The mattresses were disgustingly filthy and the pillows weren’t great. I would also expect to get a proper duvet in a five star hotel but instead they had the most noisy sheet and a blanket instead which wasn’t great. We had also requested a travel cot which had seen better days. Our room was overlooking the main pool so it was noisy for the most part with music blaring. The main restaurant is big and clean with lots of seating both indoors and outdoors. I would recommend getting there at opening so you don’t have to wait for a table as it does get busy. The ocean view restaurant is smaller but was our favourite due to its location overlooking the ocean. I would avoid the restaurant by the main pool altogether. It’s not great, you can’t hear each other talking due to the music from the pool and you can’t breathe due to all the cigarette smoke and the service is non existent. The staff at the other restaurants are better and more attentive but once all the tables are full the service is out the window. As far as the food it’s mediocre at best. You’ll definitely find something to eat but it’s not what I would expect from a five star hotel. The Adventureland is quite run down when you look around. On the plus side there’s lots of seats, there’s a cafe with pizzas, ice cream (when the machine isn’t broken which is was every other day) and drinks. The baby pool is also under shade which is good but the pools were freezing so the kids didn’t want to go in much. There are lots of pools dotted around so you can avoid one if it’s particularly busy. Hopefully you won’t mind choking on cigarette smoke while you try to enjoy yourself. The hotel is located right on the beach which we thought was great. However, it’s not a nice beach as it’s littered with plastic. There’s a kids disco in the evening which ours enjoyed. It’s the same songs each night so the kids will learn the songs and moves quickly. Be careful on the stage though as it’s quite high up and when all the adults join it’s crowded. The arcade is ok but not really worth your time or money. There’s two playgrounds. One is located next to the main restaurant. Not very big but big enough. The main downside to this one is that it’s locked outside of the restaurant opening hours. Not sure why and very annoying. The other playground is over at the adventure land. This is a bigger one and it’s under shade which is good. It is run down so could definitely do with an upgrade. Also, the ground is covered in soft tiles incase they fall down which is good. BUT it does leave black residue on all their clothes and skin which is hard to get off so far from ideal. There is a small shop on site which I would avoid at all cost. They sell overpriced plastic toys among other things. A toy that cost £11 on amazon came to £35 there so that gives you an idea. The staff are also incredibly rude! Forgetting they work in a service industry they thought it was ok to shout and swearing at people. There’s activities you can do such as mini golf, tennis etc. These all require a deposit which needs to be in cash The TUI kids club is good and they actually require you to sign in/out and they will gather information about you and your child. The local kids club at the hotel is less secure and I wouldn’t recommend it. They don’t ask for names, you’re not required to sign in/out and they will ask for money for activities at the very last minute when your child is all set up and ready. For example, they wanted 20 euros for t-shirt painting. Overall there’s a lack of information given about activities, restaurants, especially the bookable ones and the staff is a hit and miss with some being better than others. Without sounding rude, some of the guests were also questionable to say the least. On the plus side, the hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the ocean. The grounds are well maintained with lots of greenery, flowers and lovely walks. As long as you expect to arrive to a noisy, cigarette smelling, poor school lunch meals, slightly run down hotel with a mix in staff and guests you’re good. If you however are expecting a luxury five star hotel with all that comes with that, this isn’t the place for you. In fact, you’ll leave highly disappointed!
