This has been a very relaxing holiday, family run hotel the Poseidon Kos on the edge of town 10/15 min walk into centre. We stayed in the newly refurbished self catering appartments, comfortable king size bed, staff very friendly. We went on a couple of well organised trips through the hotel, wine and olive oil tasting which included a trip to the mountain town of Zia and was good value 25€, also went to Bodrum in Turkey for the day. Opposite the the hotel there is a fabulous taverna called The Land of Olive we ate there a number of times lunch and evening, the food is well prepared and cooked to a high standard and very reasonable priced. There is plenty to do in Kos town bars, live music, there is a beautiful roof top bar in the hotel Divine 200 yards from the hotel Poseidon with views over the sea, restaurants and ancient site's, we will definitely becoming back soon.

“Fantastic apartment's, great staff & great location. ”

In august 2023 I booked the Poseidon Hotel & Apartment’s for a 7 day break. In our party there were two adults & 1 teenager. ROOM We were assigned room 218 which was located on the second floor. The room was set out with a sofa bed in the lounge & double bed in the main bedroom. There is also 1 bathroom with a walk-in shower & toilet. There is also a balcony & small kitchen. I have uploaded a room tour of our room which you can find on my YouTube page, the link is in my TripAdvisor profile. *TIP* Please make sure you let your tour operator or hotel no if you have mobility issues as there is no lift in the apartment building so you will need a room on the first floor. * The rooms are spotless & the cleaning team do a fantastic job. The room also has fantastic Air Conditioning. FOOD During our stay we had booked breakfast with our stay which in hindsight I wish I hadn’t done. The breakfast options weren’t brilliant & after the first day we didn’t have it again. Instead, we purchased food from a local shop & had it in our room. During our stay we did attend the BBQ / Greek night at the hotel & the food was fantastic. I really recommend attending the Greek / BBQ night & I can also recommend ordering anything from the pool bar during your pool days. HOTEL & LOCATION The hotel premise / bar areas are clean with lots of seating. In the bar they always have music on which creates a great atmosphere. If your sports fan the bar staff are really accommodating, they will try to get the sport on the TV for you. The location of the hotel is fantastic for people who want to be near beach / Kos Town. You can be at the sea in 6 minutes from the hotel front door. There is a variety of restaurants near the hotel (I have mentioned the best restaurants we found below). If you hire a car there is quite a bit of free kerbside parking around the hotel. They hotel also has bikes that are available to hire from reception. GYM & POOL The pool at the hotel is spotlessly clean & Jonny does a great job maintaining it. I did feel there was a need for some extra sun beds during the busier times of the day. I also feel they could possibly introduce a no smoking / vaping around the pool. Regarding the Gym I didn’t realise the hotel had one until the day we were leaving (this could do with being highlighted / advertised more). The gym itself is quite worn out but a workout could still be achieved in there. STAFF The staff at the hotel were fantastic & helpful. The only thing I think they could improve on is having the staff wearing name badges. It was impossible to tell who the staff were & who the holiday makers were this is why I am unable to mention the staff who stood out for me during my stay. OVERALL Overall we had a great stay at the Poseidon Hotel & Apartment’s. If I was to return to Kos & this hotel was available Id happily book the apartments again. Overall id give the hotel 8/10. If the breakfast had been good it would have been a 10/10. Definitely haggle with them to get the car cheaper. Cheapest place for food shopping - Kritikos Supermarket, Al Papanastasiou, Kos 853 00, Greece Things worth going to see - Therma Beach, 853 00, Greece - Happy Flamingo Beach, Alukés, Tigkaki 853 00, Greece. (Great beach & good prices for cabanas for beach days. We stayed at the Hotel Poseidon for two weeks at the end of September/beginning of October. The hotel rooms are quite basic and would benefit from a refurbishment, particularly the bathrooms which are very small. A good sized fridge with ice box in the room was very welcome, as was the balcony overlooking the pool. The hotel provides an excellent base for exploring the island as the old town and bus station is less than a 15 minute walk. The hotel was quiet when we visited, mainly older North European guests seeking late summer sun. This suited us as the pool area was very quiet, so I’d say it wouldn’t necessarily suit families with children. Due to the time of year, the sun wasn’t on the pool all the day so you had to move around to stay in it. Breakfast was very simple but more than ample and it was nice to be able to enjoy it outside. The bar stayed open to 1am which was great for a nightcap. As others have said, the staff are very friendly and hard working. Unfortunately the weekly Greek Night and BBQ didn’t take place during our stay which was a disappointment. However, we ate out at some lovely restaurants in the vicinity and I can highly recommend the Land of Olive taverna opposite the hotel. All in all, the Hotel Poseidon is ideal for mature couples looking for a simple, good value no frills base in Kos.
