Absolutely loved our stay here, the grounds are so peaceful - beautiful green gardens set among lots of big old olive trees. I think perhaps this was once the grounds of a grand house or farm with olive groves. The staff were wonderful (special thanks to Costas at the bar and our cleaner Anastasia - you both made our stay even better!), the pool was perfect and clean, and the chef does a great job too, definitely worth staying in for evening meals. Don’t miss BBQ/Greek night on Thursdays, the quality of food was amazing for 20 euros and it was such a good night! We were in the older block (I think all Jet2 customers are put there). The rooms were basic but huge with plenty of wardrobe space and drawers, and exactly as pictured on the Jet2 website. At some point they’ll renovate them to the standard of the newer rooms, but they’re smaller over there and we valued the extra space and storage. We’d have loved bigger fridges with a freezer compartment, but they do sell bottled water at the bar and can get ice there too. Despite it being a few minutes walk uphill which was tough in the heat or when tired and tipsy, we’re really very happy we chose this hotel, have never felt so relaxed on a group holiday with several adults and teenagers. No sunbed wars whatsoever, no noise, just a lovely chilled vibe and gorgeous views of the mountains and countryside. From the main road there are regular buses (the no7 goes on a loop from Corfu town - Gouvia - Dassia - Ipsos and back about every 20/30 minutes) so it’s easy to have a day out for €2 per journey. We also got the bus to Paleokastritsa half an hour away and the timetables suggest you can get anywhere on the island for a few euros. It’s also easy to do a trip to Albania as the port is only 20 mins away and the ferry takes about an hour, don’t forget your passports! La Kantas (Greek) and Sayam (Chinese Thai) were our favourite restaurants in Gouvia. But again, the hotel food was superb with generous portions and not expensive at all. You can easily stay in a few nights and enjoy the restaurant and bar. It’s not often I think I’d visit the same hotel twice but I’d definitely consider it with this place. Thank you, Saint Nicholas, we were sad to leave!
