“Lovely hotel is quiet and beautiful area”

We stayed for five nights. Staff are lovely. Hotel is clean and well looked after. Didn’t hire a car, but will when we return. Can’t wait.

We stayed at Karavados Beach Hotel in Kefalonia in May 2026 and had a really lovely holiday. The hotel had only recently opened for the season when we arrived, but everywhere was clean and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Check-in was really easy after about a 20-minute transfer from the airport. When we got to our room, it was basic but very clean and absolutely fine for what we needed for the week. The beds and pillows were comfortable, with plenty of spare bedding in the wardrobes. The bathroom was simple with a sink, toilet and bath/shower, but the shower pressure and temperature were spot on. The highlight of the room was definitely the balcony view — we had a partial sea view room but could still see for miles. The food at the hotel was really good, especially the mixed grill and gyros. All of the staff were lovely and honestly couldn’t do enough for us or our daughter. Whether it was bringing fresh juice over for her or interacting with her during meals, they made us feel so welcome and made her really happy too. There were plenty of tables downstairs for breakfast and always a good selection of fresh food. We enjoyed the fresh juice, coffee, toast, jams, Nutella, pastries, Greek yogurt with honey and nuts, Greek cake, feta and tomato salad, omelettes, boiled eggs, beans and sausages — everything we tried was fresh and delicious. We stayed bed and breakfast but did ask about the banquet dinner, which was around €27 per person. For us, it worked out better just ordering from the normal menu instead. There’s a bus stop just outside the hotel on the left by the pine tree. It costs €2.20 each way and takes you into Argostoli, where you can stop and watch the sea turtles by the fishing boats, or catch another bus to explore more of the island. Just be aware there was only one bus from the hotel in the morning and one returning later in the day. We also looked into taxis, but they started from around €20 each way, so it’s definitely worth checking the bus timetable. There’s also a mini market about a 30-minute walk from the hotel, along with a couple of restaurants nearby serving lovely food and drinks with exceptionally good service. The hotel also hosts a Greek night every Thursday, which was a nice touch. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel down hill, its rocky, however there are steps in to the sea and a ramp back up, lovely crystal blue water, then at the top of the hill in Trapezaki there's another beach. Overall, we had a very good holiday and would happily return again. Next time, we’d probably hire a car so we could explore more of the island.

A lovely quiet location. Sleepy little place. Everything that it states on its website is correct. All the staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. A lovely quiet location. Sleepy little place. Everything that it states on its website is correct. All the staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. Special mention to Christina and Maria. Just lovely. However, it is noisy. There are a lot of hard surfaces, therefore nothing to soften old fashioned door locks, banging doors and people talking and strutting up and down corridors. The music in the bar area is often unnecessarily loud and intrusive in the evenings. The balconies are very close together and there is a no non-smoking area anywhere outside. Thus, people are smoking on their balconies, in the bar area, the pool area and gardens and all the outdoor eating areas. For us this spoiled what could have been a lovely holiday. Please please may we ask that you have one dedicated outside smoking area only and a part of the hotel where balconies are not subject to others cigarette smoke and vapes. As non-smokers it is horrible to be subjected to this everywhere. A lovely place, spoiled by others cigarettes and vapes.

A few nights could hear people being sick in their bathrooms . The room had a fridge but was noisy all night . We had several ants in our room So I struggled to sleep most nights because of noise . The furniture was dated . No safe in our room so had to take our money & valuables with us The staff at the hotel are so kind and friendly . The cleaners did a good job The breakfast was not the best but okay . With a few tweaks & more choices could be nice .
