We stayed in the Harbour Inn for our first two nights in Gouvia. As with many places in Corfu, it wasn't immediately easy to find. But when I picked up the phone to the place Alex came out and made us feel immediately welcome. The place was 40 days open and in some ways you could tell (no hotel sign outside/on the road), needs a little travel kettle in each room ideally for those who need regular tea (Brits maybe?!) but otherwise the rooms were functional and clean. The outside area, the location and the welcome are what make me give this place 5 stars. The pool is lovely, the cold drinks at the bar area next to the pool are most welcome and Alex (and his family) make you feel incredibly welcome. Gouvia marina, old town (nightlife) and beach are 5/10 min walks away and have everything you could want from a Corfu trip (though I'd recommend hiring a car cheaply through Cosmos for added adventure). All in all a lovely place to stay (which will onyl get better) and a truly enjoyable vacation.

I was at this Place from middle September for two weeks. I enjoyed my stay there allot! When you first arrive, you go around the building where there is a gentleman sitting on his laptop under a medditeranien patio sort of. His name is Mario, and he greets You very friendly... open and in a funny way. Just what you need after a stressful trip to your destination. The rooms are very simple. Each room has their own little balcony. Flat screen tv, free internet and a pizza oven with two stove plates on top. Simple enough to make something quick and easy to snack on. The rooms are very bright and private. You have a little safe also. What i liked allot there.. they have lighten up decoration as a picture or light chaines. Almost for romantic couples- which wasn't in my case. Lol I was there by myself. I did met some other ppl who stayed there just like a lovely couple from Liverpool which I hang out with by the never busy pool. But if you stay there have a ouzo or two on the balcony with a oil lamp I purchased at the nearby supermarket called Diellas. So all in simple but warm welcomed place to stay. I'll be trying to come next year again. Once again thank you Mario for being such a great host!!!! ( Your Ouzo man ) Oh and a tip.. go to the village which is in walking distance and have a pita at NICOLS! Very friendly family owned place to grab food.

“Lovely relaxing stay”

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Harbour Inn, which was just what we needed! The hotel has only been open for around six weeks, having been recently taken over. It's a bit hard to find, as no signage yet, but our cab driver called, was given directions and Mario, the manager, was outside to greet us on arrival. He's such a lovely man, very helpful and a good laugh! We'd booked a double room, but were given a free upgrade to a family apartment when we checked in. It's simply furnished, but we'd expected that. We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the rooms and lovely to have two little balconies to relax on. The kitchen is minimally equipped, couldn't have cooked a meal, but fine for us to make hot drinks and do sandwiches. There's a fridge, small two ring cooker, plenty of crockery, but lacking a frying pan or kettle. There is a flat screen TV and the WiFi and air conditioning was free of charge (hate it when you are expected to pay for these!) We'd have liked a safe in the room and a bigger bathroom, which felt cramped and had a tiny shower. The bright and airy reception area is nicely furnished, a big comfy couch, side tables, no over ornamentation, very relaxed feel! We really liked the pictures of Corfu Town as was, we enjoyed trying to match the sites with present day Corfu Town. Interesting to see how it grew into the stunning place it is today. The gardens are pretty, beautiful flowers, trees, pots and hanging baskets everywhere. The pool is big, with an adjoining child pool, large paved area and plenty of sunbeds. There's a bar area with tables and chairs and a lovely covered space with colourful hammocks and loungers, just gorgeous! We had the pool to ourselves most days, which was strange, but nice! We're very familiar with Corfu, so for us, the Gouvia area is perfect for getting around the island on public transport. You can get the blue bus right outside the hotel, Corfu Town in one direction, Dassia in the other. You can get buses in town to other areas of the island, for instance, Pelekas or Benitses, within an hour or so. You can also get the long distance green buses nearby, going to Paleocastritsa and, I think, Sidari and Kassiopi. Crossing the main road and walking down the lane ahead, will take you to Gouvia or Kontokali. Turning left is Gouvia, lots of bars, restaurants and tourist shops etc, lively atmosphere. To the right is Kontokali which is a more traditional, quieter village, but still with a good choice of places to eat and drink. The Harbour Inn is a work in progress,so there are lots of changes ahead. Mario showed us the plans and this place is going to be fabulous by this time next year. Hopefully, it will retain its lovely atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return, thanks Mario!
