First of all we would return to the hotel. It was easy to check in, paid the ‘tourist tax’ and said our room was quite ready but if we wanted to get a drink and food it would be ready when we came back. Which it was. The room, slightly dated and in need of a little bit of TLC, was perfect sized. Three beds upstairs, with its own tv and balcony. Down stairs you have a little dressing area, good bathroom, a double room and another balcony. The housekeeping staff, we had the same housekeeper most of the week, worked hard. The two issues for us for the room is no drying rack / airer. When you’re using the pool every day it’s nice to have somewhere to dry the towels. And the lights on the balcony can’t be turned off, but the curtains are good & thick. The food- the main buffet restaurant there was something for everyone every night. The only down side is the puddings, but that’s a personal thing! The staff are the best thing about this hotel. They all work so hard. Often long hour. Some seemed rude to start with but if you listen to how people speak to them no wonder. But actually if you use manners and a smile they are all happy, friendly and hardworking! The staff were always good to my 12 &14 yr old boys. Nothing too much trouble, fist pumps every time they saw them. The little things that matter to them! The snack bar is always busy but the food is fresh. The Gyros are lovely. The drinks are in little cups, but the staff are more than happy to use your own cups or give you two drinks! We are at the Italian restaurant which was very good, service top notch! Food was a Hit to everyone, The burger joint was a let down to us. No better than a burger after a night out! The pool areas are kept clean all day, as are the pool toilets. Wasn’t keen on using some of the toilets due no locks and American style large gaps around the doors. There is a lot of wasps on the island, however they don’t seem angry like back home. We only really used the main pool and the lazy river both cold to start with! The location of the hotel is what drew us in the first place. It took 10 mins for transport from the airport, and it’s about a 5 min walk to the main strip. 15 min walk to the main beach. Due to a bad storm we had an extra two nights so experiences an extra two bed rooms, one was another duplex. Which was inferior to our original but would’ve been fine for the week. Another was a normal room which a sliding room bedroom two single beds and a double, only 1 tv. If I had to choose I would pick our original then the third. If you are requesting a block, A would be it for us. We would return to the hotel.

“Needs Improvement !”

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Caretta Beach 2016, 2018 and this year. The hotel has had some areas revamped but still needs a lot of upgrading. This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Caretta Beach 2016, 2018 and this year. The hotel has had some areas revamped but still needs a lot of upgrading. Our room was a good size with a nice balcony however the bathrooms have a shower and a bath in it which makes it quite tight and is really dated. The bath had rust marks in it and was not clean at all, always smelt damp in there and you can smell sewage as the drains are open on the floor. There is no extractor fans in the bathrooms so have a massive issue with damp our ceiling was covered in black mould above the shower. There is a window in the bathroom but you can't open it as everyone who walks past the room can see straight in and you would get eaten alive by all the mosquitos. Our maid was nice and done a good job of cleaning but you can't polish a turd. The restaurant is nice and clean and the staff were all friendly, you could always find something to eat as there's quite a big selection but every night the food is pretty much the same, the desserts had a great selection and were very nice. the drink selection on the restaurant is very poor. The snack bar was ok for chips and the gyros but the burgers and hot dogs were really dry and un edible. Again same options every day! The staff at all the bars were happy and friendly especially the pool bar. The drinks are not great everything is served in little 250mm plastic cups even at night. The cocktails were ok but there all just syrup no fresh juices or fruit. The Waterpark is good fun with the slides however it does need some TLC as in the lazy river there's so many tiles that have come off and areas that have been patched back in with different colour tiles it looks awful. Lifeguards are good, friendly and help keep the areas clean by clearing cups etc. The evening entertainment was poor the kids disco was ok and the DJ is good but we stayed for 9 nights and there was only 2 shows on, Greek Dancing and a music quiz. We spent most of our evening on the strip in various bars. There is a massive problem with wasps and mosquitoes they are everywhere, there was 15 of us and everyone got bitten quite badly and half a dozen got stung too. If it rains there is only around 20 seats undercover so if the weather is bad the entertainment gets cancelled and there's nowhere to go. This hotel has a lot to offer but does need a lot of improving, I would rate it a low 3 star as it is in a great location with a good strip of shops, bars and restaurants 2 minute walk away and the beach 20 min walk away. But if you go in October be warned lots will be shut. Overall we won't be returning to Caretta again.
