“A lovely place to stay”

The hotel is such a nice place. With different pools to chose from, entertainment and friendly staff we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. The rooms are so nice with a gorgeous balcony. We had a small issue with ants the first few days but the lovely receptionist and housekeepers soon fixed it. At dinner our waiter (a gentleman with black hair tied up) looked after us every night- I couldn’t have asked for better service would really recommend! With a 2 minute walk to a local shop and a 5 minute walk to the beach there’s a choice of things to do. From the hotel there’s a 2 minute walk to a bus stop with a 3€ fair to get to old town which was nice. This hotel really is a beautiful budget friendly place to stay on the quieter side of Rhodes. Thank you so much to all the friendly staff who looked after me and my partner during our week long stay!

“Pleasant stay at the hotel but location could be an issue for some”

We are leaving the hotel tomorrow after having stayed for 11 nights. On arrival we had a couple of “teething” problems however these were put right the next morning. We have stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor. The apartment Has been cleaned with bed change and towels replaced daily… more

We are leaving the hotel tomorrow after having stayed for 11 nights. On arrival we had a couple of “teething” problems however these were put right the next morning. We have stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor. The apartment Has been cleaned with bed change and towels replaced daily. The hotel and pool areas are maintained to a very high standard. With regards to “self catering” altho this was not a problem for us others may well find the lack of kitchen equipment a problem I.e. no toaster or microwave and very few utensils. The other negative as far as we are concerned is the fact the shower is over a bath and the fixings are far too high to reach plus there are no hand rails to assist getting in and out and as we are not young this was an issue. The location is approx 20 mins from Kremasti and the walk is along a very busy road with very uneven pavements.

We were 3 sisters sharing a one bedroom apartment. We arrived late on a Saturday night and we were initially disappointed with the room, our first night was a combination of hard mattress on a bunk bed, planes going over till early hours and really basic facilities we really were thinking what have we done!! The next morning we asked if we could upgrade but were told they were full and all apartments were the same. However this is where the negativity ends, the pool area was lovely no problems getting sunbeds, the drinks and food were great and what really makes the hotel are the staff, a special mention to George and all the ladies and boys serving us. We visited the old town of Rhodes twice and loved it there and we also went to Lindos for an afternoon/evening trip also really lovely. All in all we had a lovely week and our initial thoughts were turned into a definite yes to returning to the Emerald, we even grew fond of our room but would say that a bit of a refresh and new cutlery, plates etc would be great. Also if you like ironed clothes be prepared to be a bit creased as no iron is available. Thank you to all the lovely staff for changing our minds we will come back

Arrived in the afternoon, booked in very quickly by a very welcoming receptionist, given our room number and pointed in the direction of where we needed to go. We were given a second floor room with no lift and no offer of help to carry the suitcases up the stairs. The room was clean but dated, especially the bathroom which is in need of a refurbishment. The shower head attachment was far too high to reach (if short) unless you stood on the bath edge or used a chair. The toilet roll holder, toiletry cady and shower head bracket were loose and need to be secured. Bed mattresses were extremely hard and uncomfortable. The view from the balcony wasn't the best (pool in one direction which was good, mops and cleaning equipment in the other, not so good). The pool area and grounds were of a very good standard, clean and well maintained, apart from cleaning equipment left in view at the bottom of the stairs. (maybe screens could be put up to hide this). The dining/bar area was clean and the seating was very comfortable. We'd booked half board but wished we hadn't, breakfast is very basic, the evening meal was from a reduced menu which every night included soup, salad, pasta/ pizza, ice-cream or coffee, then two different mains to choose from, definitely limited compared to the main menu. Greek night was fun and entertaining but Monday and Fridays entertainment didn't happen even though advertised. We were aware of being in the flight path but didn't realise how loud and disturbing it could be, day and especially night, maybe we should have done more research before booking as the hotel can do nothing to change this. The cleaners were friendly, cleaned the room daily, changing towels and sheets regularly, however they did congregate at the bottom of the stairs and on some occasions were reluctant to move out of the way (perhaps they need an area set aside to take their breaks, if this was the reason). On the whole we did enjoy our stay, the staff were very friendly, helpful and hard working, always greeted you with a smile. Just a bit of TLC in the older apartments would make a big difference to guests using them.
