“Beyond expectations”

From start to finish everything was excellent and was really beyond our expectations. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back.

We went to this hotel in 2020 during lockdown period when it was the lutania beach and loved it then, we love it even more now! Since our first visit it has been renovated to a good standard . We booked directly with the hotel website for a room with private pool as we like privacy and we were not disappointed. As we booked directly with the hotel they also organised complimentary airport transfers. We arrived just before midnight as our transfer was the last drop off by cretan travel and it took over 1.5hrs which wasn’t ideal, bearing in mind its only 40 mins in a taxi to the airport. On arrival to our room (which coincidentally was the very same room 116 this time around too!), we had been left a wrap and water which was very much appreciated after a long days travel. The room was large enough, very clean, good bathroom / shower with toiletries and hairdryer. No face cloths. We got fresh towels whenever we asked for them and pool towels had also been left in our room. There was a large TV, a mini fridge and kettle with tea/ coffee etc. you can refill the water bottle at any bar or in the restaurant. Aircon worked well, bed was firm but comfortable. We found there was only one plug socket each side of the bed, so we had to unplug the room phone so we could charge both our mobiles. Wifi was included in the p rice. Room tax was 10 euros per night. Good storage, shelves and hanging space and the room and patio area spotless. We had outdoor patio area, 2 sun loungers, parasol, 2 chairs, a table and a deckchair. It was a really lovely area to sit and relax. The view was of a tennis court , rather than anything scenic, but it was the peace and quiet we wanted and we knew that before we booked it so we were very happy with it. If you want a sea view room these had a shared pool which looked just as nice. The pool had been renovated too, fully tiled with a jacuzzi added as a bonus. The pool depth is 1.3meters which is great for me being a small person so felt very safe. The pool was cleaned regularly, water temperature ideal for the weather (and not freezing cold). Our housekeeper was amazing and kept our room and outside area beautifully clean and comfortable. One improvement to the room would be to supply a box of tissues. Some reviews state there is an ant problem and while we saw a few ants on some days outside on the patio, we definitely would not state it was a problem. The hotel and gardens are beautifully clean and well cared for. The pool bar opens from 10.30am and upstairs bar open 12 noon until midnight. There is also a smoothie bar by the pool but we didnt use it. Bar areas were clean, bars were busy but not hectic. We found all the bar staff very friendly, happy and helpful. There were some lounge seats outside at the upstairs bar area but these filled very quickly and with limited seats around the bar itself. There is evening entertainment between 9pm and 11pm but not necessarily on the nights they were scheduled! If there was no live act on they played continuous music with a DJ who never said a word, just played music! There is an activity programme but we didn’t participate - we went on holiday to do nothing but relax! There is a mini supermarket on hotel lobby where you change your pool towels every 3 days. The main pool is large and kept clean, with a lifeguard on duty . There is seemingly a good supply of sunbeds and parasols, but the loungers are really low to the floor, so some people may struggle to get on and off them. We found that sometimes the loungers were reserved with clothing or towels the night before which is not ideal, but not sure what the hotel can do about that though. There are also loungers down on the beach and on the grassy area, part way down to the beach. Not sure how easy it would be for people with mobility problems to get to the beach as there are multiple steps. The beach is pebbly not sand and I would recommend beach shoes. The restaurant had been updated too and there was a large choice of food so we never struggled to find food we liked. My only grumble is that the food on the servers is not that hot. It seemed the only hot food is that being freshly cooked. There is an a la carte restaurant but we didn't use it. Choice was amazing and the desserts too good to miss. When we go on holiday we like to go to places where we can relax and not have loud music all day long, or all night long, so this hotel was perfect. There was music around the pool but it wasn't so loud you couldn't talk to each other or relax. The music and /or acts also finished at 11pm promptly which again for us was a bonus! There is a local bus stop K11 a couple of minutes walk to the right of the hotel, to take you to Rhodes or elsewhere for 4 euros each way. Times are variable depending on the month but reception helps you download the relevant timetable. Continue walking to then right of the hotel and you will come to small shopping area. To the left of the hotel is another mini supermarket. Our only problem is that the hotel hadn’t arranged our airport transfer back until we checked pick up time the previous day. However, this was resolved quickly as they booked a taxi which only took us 40 mins rather than the 1.5hrs for arrival. perhaps the hotel could sort out similar arrangements for arrivals? Overall, we really loved this hotel and would definitely return. If you are expecting 5 star service such as porters and waiter service you will be disappointed. You need to take your own luggage to your room, find your own room and get your own drinks. If you want loud music playing all day with silly games and drunken people, stay away because this is a lovely peaceful hotel where you can relax and feel recharged. For us, it is the staff who make this hotel, and it is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. Thank you to everyone at Paralos. We love it and we will be back.

I decided to write this review as the generally very positive reviews I have read of this hotel do not accord with my experience. We stayed in late May 2026 for a week. This is not a bad hotel, but it does not meet the standards required for a 4* hotel. The Room: We booked a last minute stay and were given room 230. The room was in very poor condition - there had clearly been a number of leaks from above as the ceiling was a patchwork of repairs and damp patches. There was a large patch of water damage in one of the corners of the room. The track for the patio door to run in was full of dried white paint, the bathroom was in poor condition and there were numerous holes in the walls. The room requires complete renovation. The room is only 30 paces from the hotel’s front entrance, meaning there was constant noise disruption from the reception area. The evening entertainment ended at 11pm, and due to the location of the entertainment and layout of the hotel I would estimate that easily more than 50% of the rooms would be overly affected by the noise. The location of room 230 plus the noise level of the entertainment meant that sleeping prior to 11pm was impossible. We saw three couples complaining about the condition of their room during our stay. I noticed in each case that the nonchalance of the member of staff dealing with the complaint clearly annoyed the couple that was complaining. On a similar vein, one day we woke up to no water in our bathroom. We informed reception on our way to breakfast and were told with a shrug ‘ah yes, it’s the whole hotel’. I appreciate the lack of water was not the receptionist’s fault but the ‘pfft, what do you want me to do about it?’ attitude was irritating. Outdoor area: As a positive, the pool area and beach are very good. The location of the hotel with direct access to the beach in a beautiful bay is fantastic. There are plenty of comfortable sunbeds and each couple has a good amount of personal space. The empty glasses are collected regularly and the bar staff are friendly. However, in a week we were only able to change our beach towels once. Food and drink: The all inclusive buffet was fine and plentiful, although the food was repetitive. It would have been nice if more Greek food was on offer, if you were dropped into the restaurant you would have had no idea you were in Greece. The staff in the buffet restaurant were attentive and proactive in setting tables and removing used plates. We ate in the à la carte restaurant once and the food was good, it felt very different from the cafeteria nature of the buffet restaurant. Service in the à la carte restaurant was very good until two members of the management team sat down for dinner - the waiting staff brown nosed them to such an extent that all other tables were then ignored. I believe (but of course have no evidence to confirm) that the spirits offered are watered down. The ‘cocktails’ (I use inverted commas as the cocktails are prepared in such a way that I must now consider orange squash to be a cocktail) consist of ~50% alcohol but you would have to drink enough that in normal circumstances would kill a rhino in order to even get the smallest of buzzes. An example of an effort being made by the hotel but halfheartedly can be illustrated by our experience of our transfer home to the airport. We were told upon arrival that as we were staying at the hotel for a week the hotel would happily arrange our departing airport transfer free of charge. We were not expecting this so saw the hotel going above and beyond as a major positive. We gave details of our flight home and were told to check in with them on this later in the week. We spoke to reception the evening prior to our departure and the very pleasant lady on reception had no idea what we were talking about, and suggested we return in the morning when a more senior member of staff would be on shift. The next morning the person in the know happily confirmed our taxi, asking what time we wanted it (6pm) and that it would be booked right away. She verbally confirmed this would be a private taxi. An hour later I was called on the phone by reception and told that a bus would pick us up at 5.15pm. This wasn’t a service we were paying for but the process and change from a taxi to a bus was irritating. Conclusion: As a last minute booking we paid an average rate of just over €160 a night for a week. I see that booking the same room today for a month’s time (admittedly in higher season) would be just over €300 a night. In my opinion the hotel can justify €160 a night on the ‘cheap and cheerful all inclusive’ end of the spectrum but €300 a night (ie. over €2,000 for a week) would represent poor value for money. The hotel’s photographer should be given a large bonus - this is the only hotel I’ve been to where the photos on the website and social media so greatly exceed what is actually there.
