This hotel is just the right size. Situated on a beautiful cove with a mountain backdrop. Right by the sea. It has a family feel. We traveled as a family of three one being 16. Our overall stay was 5* but there were a few slight niggles which would bring this hotels official star rating up higher and it is deserved. The following is my honest opinion. We stayed in room 2201 for 14 nights. Situated on the third floor next to the À la Carte restaurant and overlooking both pools and the sea. On their advertising it shows newly refurbished rooms, regrettably ours wasn’t one of them but it suited us. The room itself was spacious with a king double bed and a Sofabed. A large dressing table. Not enough storage space for three people to put away their clothes. The air conditioning was poor and in the high 30°s and low 40°s we needed it cooler! The bathroom was boiling all of the time. It had a wet room feel with an overhead rain shower that didn’t spray on you like it was meant too. It went in every direction but. There was also a handheld attachment and this is what we used. There was a big ant problem in the room, all over the bathroom sink and counter, all over the room floor and even in the beds occasionally. They didn’t bite but I personally didn’t like them in the bed. The beds were very comfortable. There was a picture window overlooking the sea but had no blind so it woke you up on the mornings. The room was cleaned to a high standard daily and towels changed everyday. Sunbeds were a little sparse around the pools and were reserved early. We had to join that circus otherwise we would have missed out. Pools exceptionally clean and nice temperatures to keep you cool. Sunbeds on the beach were charged at €12 for two with an umbrella. The lovely gentleman only charged us €12 for three beds. You get one voucher per day for a free cocktail from the beach bar which must be used that day. The sea itself is very rocky so beach shoes would be recommended. Our complaint here is that it appears that concrete has been dumped in the sea. One part still having a railing attached to it! The sea isn’t deep so it’s quite difficult not to knock yourself on the rocks and concrete. Drinks; from the bars the soft drinks aren’t great but we certainly didn’t have a problem with them. You cannot fill up your own cups/flasks like in other hotels but again wasn’t an issue for us. The alcohol and beer are all local and again we had no issue. No queuing whilst we were there which was a bonus. Special mention to Angel at main pool bar in the evening who seemed to remember everyone’s drinks daily! There is a paid for beach bar which sells premium drinks and has a great atmosphere. It showed the World Cup matches which was a relief! Drinks at meal times are of the same standard and you can have beer or wine from the bar or self serve soft drinks and coffee etc. Margaret gets a mention here as our favourite bar person. Food; we never had a problem finding a table for our meals. The staff are exceptional at clearing away used plates and the food is kept topped up at the self serve buffet areas. Not once did any of us have a bad meal. The chefs are to be commended. There are a few tables in the air conditioned buffet area and terracing tables under umbrellas. You can hire a car from reception at very reasonable prices. Overall we would give the hotel a 5* from our experience and would go back however with the standard of the drinks and the slight niggles we had I can see why the official rating of this hotel is lower than it should be. You cannot fault the staff, everywhere is immaculate and they work so hard. The individuals we encountered deserved the tips we gave them on our departure. Brilliant!
