“Very impressive hotel ”

We visited for a week at the end of April/beginning of May, so very early season. Weather was great early/mid twenties, with a nice breeze. This was our first experience in a 5 star hotel. I've stayed in many 3 and 4 stars in my time, and I was really impressed overall, it outlived my expectati... more

“5 Night All Inclusive Family Break”

We stayed as a family with a 3 month old. We were either daft or crazy (both). Our main aim when booking Electra was to find a resort that was low maintenance, clean and fresh. This is exactly what we got. The hotel has been recently renovated, the pool area was pristine, everywhere was clean and... more

“Mixed review.”

We arrived at the Electra palace, check in was smooth and the receptionist was friendly and informative. Our room was bright and spotless however it lacked storage space ( missing shelf from the wardrobe) we did say to reception and it was fixed the following day, not what you’d expect from a 5 *... more

“Mixed bag”

Ok. So we stayed for 9 nights. We arrived after midnight. After a long day it was a relief. We were greeted by Joe on reception. A lovely man. Greeted us with a lovely smile and gave us all the information we needed. Now this is a 5 star hotel, after staying in a really bad 4 star last year, we... more

  • Yes, guests at Electra Palace Rhodes have highlighted that: We visited for a week at the end of April/beginning of May, so very early season. Weather was great early/mid twenties, with a nice breeze. This was our first experience in a 5 star hotel. I've stayed in many 3 and 4 stars in my time, and I was really impressed overall, it outlived my expectations. After all, if you expect too much from anything you will only be disappointed right? The hotel itself is immaculately clean, we found all the staff helpful, from check in, to the cleaners, to the bar staff, to all the restaurants - where they all were working very hard. Room We had an executive twin garden room which was located in the second building, at the back. It was nice, and had everything we needed. Including shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. A fridge, tea making facilities and a safe. A big wardrobes, with a dressing gown and slippers. Rooms were cleaned, and towels replaced daily. The beds were really comfortable, and the fact it was a duvet rather than sheets, was absolutely fantastic. The USB charging sockets made everything alot easier. The only negative would be the width of the room we had, it meant it was a tight squeeze between the end of the bed and the dressing table - not enough room to even roll a suitcase through, but we managed, and wasn't a major problem - after all I don't think the room size can be changed. I did find some of the finishes on renovations in our room were a little sloppy, like the paintwork. Food A really good buffet restaurant, with plenty of choice. The most impressive all inclusive buffet I've experienced. I'm a chef and I found everything was tasty, and full of flavour given the self service style, they did it very well. Lots of healthier options too, which is perfect if you don't want to over indulge. Lots of fresh salad. There's an Italian restaurant, and a greek restaurant which you can book to dine at 1 night each. Along with the wine bar (if you like a good wine) with a set menu only. The bakery serves pastries in the day time - we'd stock up during the day and have end of the night snacks. Ice cream is also available, and there is a shop on sight selling other things like snacks, souvenirs, suncream etc. Pool area There are so many different bed options it's quite remarkable. There's music here all day, although it is slightly too loud to be able to listen to your own music via headphones, which is slightly frustrating. It does give an Ibiza vibe, and I love Ibiza, but the volume needs to be decreased. The pool bar does amazing cocktails, however sometimes there would be a little bit of a queue -cocktails are quite labour intensive, unsure why there is the woman just standing there taking room numbers, she could be serving! The staff were great at the bar, making cocktails all day must make their arms ache! Location The hotel is 10 minutes away from the airport. You do get planes flying over the hotel every hour, which I felt added to the holiday vibes. The hotel is directly on the beach - with no road in between - we found the sea warmer than the pool. The surrounding area is quite run down but that does not reflect the hotel at all. We did the organised hotel walk which is at 10am each morning and you get to see the local area, and also meet other guests. The local town Ialyssos is a 10/15 minutes walk, there you can find shops, restaurants and bars. The sports bar Alkioni's is great if you need to watch a match - the desserts there are insane! Rhodes town is €8 return. Lindos transfer is €25 return, both of these are booked via the hotel and I'd recommend doing these trips to see the what the island has to offer. Entertainment There are various poolside activities in the day, which are led by the entertainment team. In the evenings, to start with there are musicians, and from 9pm the main entertainment is normally out on the decking. Different acts each night, which were varied. My favourite act was the 5 male dancers, they were INCREDIBLE! Billy the barman gave us great service in the lobby bar, he remembered our drinks every evening. Other There is a basic gym, with a few cardio machines and weights, along with an indoor pool if fitness is your thing. We found the roads were quite quiet if you went for a run. There is a spa, but we didn't use that facility. I'd say 90% of the guests at this hotel are under 50. Mainly couples, quite a few with babies, but not that many children (this could just be at the time of our visit) General Airport - a heads up the passport control queue is quite long! I'd recommend getting off the plane as soon as you can, as our transfer nearly left without us, as we took so long. Taxes - on check in, we paid €60 for local taxes, which is apparently mandatory, and I'd been warned prior.
