Excellent 5 night stay at the Kimpton. We LOVED the beach - so clean, clear and calm. The snorkeling from the resort was amazing. Plenty of activities both at the resort and in Roatan to keep our multigenerational family busy all week. A special thank you to DAISY at breakfast at Alera who made each and every start to our day so special. Also to BELKIS who quickly and efficiently solved even the most minor inconvenience of our stay and helped us plan prior. The 3 bedroom condos were perfect for our family’s needs. Very comfortable and well appointed.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the several days in late June we spent at The Grand Roatan – it exceeded our expectations. Our good experience began even before we arrived. Our highest compliments to Lea Raymond and her Concierge and front-desk team. Without their assistance with airport transportation, dinner reservations and drivers, activities, payment options, weather, and safety concerns, we probably would not have even braved a trip involving Honduras. As it turns out, there was no cause for concern. This small team continued to be friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Kimpton and Roatan could not hope for a better ambassador. I have stayed in quite a few Kimpton hotels, typically in the U.S. I’ve been pleased with them all, but this is the nicest I’ve seen. With its immediate adjacency to the beach and some of the finest, softest sand anywhere, keeping public spaces clean must be a full-time job. And, they actually do have people constantly cleaning inside and out. It’s impeccable. Our room was also promptly attended to and kept immaculate. Kimpton usually manages food service well and this hotel is no exception. I often pass on hotel breakfast, but it would be a mistake to do that here – it’s terrific! My wife still talks about a ginger/beet blend juice drink they offered upon our arrival each day. Another pleasant surprise was a complimentary Hatha Yoga class offered on Tuesday morning of our stay. It was the best Yoga class I’ve even taken! I wish I could find something nearly as good back at home. We combined that with a Kao Kamasa Spa reservation and made a wonderful spa day of it. We came for the snorkeling and proximity to one of the world’s largest barrier reefs and weren’t disappointed. The water was warm and visibility was good. We saw a large variety of colorful fish simply by walking off the beach in front of the hotel and snorkeling around there. The beach is one of the cleanest, whitest, softest and most pleasant I’ve ever seen. One comment to my fellow travelers – to keep it healthy, don’t stand or walk on the reef or sea grass. If we don’t all work together to keep it safe, the reef will die, the fish will leave, and with that, so will locals’ livelihoods and a major reason we all come to visit. We saw too many tourists violating this common-sense rule. The only shortcoming of the trip was with the Activities Center. Its gear needs an upgrade and, being run separately from the hotel, maybe also its management. They made some questionable changes to confirmed reservations and left me questioning the alignment of their financial incentives. All things considered, I highly recommend the Kimpton Grand Roatan and would recommend it over any of the other resorts we saw on the island.
