This is a superb resort and surely the best in the area. Others, with far greater prices have a lot less to offer. It certainly has the best views. The apartment was of a good size and very clean throughout. The private balcony offered stunning views across the beach and the cape, with the island of Stromboli on the horizon, complete with volcanic puffs! The hotel has an excellent restaurant, and we chose to eat there throughout our 4 night stay, rather than walk to more distant restaurants. We had no complaints with the food, and there is a small semi-shop where you can buy snacks, ice-creams and drinks. The pool area is clean and, best of all, does not close at seven in the evening like so many other places. We were in the illuminated pool at half ten in the evening, under the stars, which was a real treat. The resort offers its residents free sun loungers and parasols on the beautifully quiet little beach at the foot of the private steps from the hotel (255 of them, but they are screened, which helps with the heat). All in all, a very good place to stay.

Pretty basic room but had everything we needed for a beach vacation. Good beach access, the hotel has access to a private beach which was really convenient considering how busy the main beach was. The hotel had a really nice pool and the restaurant was delicious and convenient for dinners. Nice staff. The location of the hotel is a little complex but we found it easy to access using google maps. Would definitely recommend bringing mosquito spray for the evenings, found it difficult to sleep with the mosquitos, even with doors & windows closed.

Hotel Villaggio Calispera must have the best views in Capo Vaticano. The place itself is comfortable if a little basic - but the price is great. There’s quite a good pool, parking, and a bar/restaurant. Very steep steps down to a private beach with umbrellas and chairs is good exercise, especially as the beach itself is not so good for swimming as it’s quite rocky. The pics below show where Calispera is from the main beach - as well as the steps - which are covered, so provide protection from the sun.You can get from there to the main beach with a bit of effort, but we did the steps (about 250 of them and very irregular so for me quite difficult) and drove to the main beach. Breakfast is quite good...

We booked online and were not really sure of what to expect. As most reviews have mentioned the property is not a 5 star resort, but we found the staff try hard to please. The resort caters to mostly the Italian crowds and it can make for an interesting stay. Our room was clean, but basic. It had no air conditioning but the breeze from the sea was usually enough to keep us comfortable. In talking with our friends and family we found out Calabria has had some difficult times and you may wonder where you are heading when driving through the towns leading to Santa Maria. But the beaches nearby are some of the nicest in Italy. Yes you have to walk down to the hotel's beach and it can be tricky getting into the water because of the waves and rocks. But we loved the beach here as it was away from the crowds that you will find in August. Yes the beach guy is a little odd, as he doesn't like anything moved around as mentioned in other posts. Don't move the plastic loungers near the water? But I found the staff to be helpful and the views from our little patio were amazing. Sunsets over the islands offshore were beautiful and being able to cook your own meals and drink your own wine made it better. We only ate at the restaurant once but found the food to be good and price was reasonable. Please be aware that they tend to crank up the music by the pool most of the day and have activities usually go all day long at the pool. So if you are looking for peace and quiet head to the beach as we did. Overall we had a good stay.
