ok so my family and i went for vacation in Calabria, Italy, villaggio Torre ruffa robinson. i must start by saying, my vacation was great, i will recommend anybody that would like to vist calabria to stop by and spend few days or weeks in torre ruffa. here is why, and i will also things that you have to consider as well. so, i will start by saying the food is amazinggg! fresh, and tasty. from fish to pasta to veggies to meat, ects. is buffettt. dinner is also as good and breakfast is mostly sweet with delicious pies, and tarts... i had the full pension, the only bad thing is that alcohol is not included, only water. you have to pay extra from liquor.. the hotel offers good services, free parking, it has a nice size pool for adult and kids. the rooms. the rooms i found them not too comfy to sleep. they are a little thin and hard. also the AC was the only major upsetting; because, first of all it turns on after july 2. however Andrea one of the manager of the property was very kind and nice to turned on the AC week before at no charge. that was very nice. so back to the AC issue, i am from Florida, and our summer the AC has to be ON all the time at least at 72 degree. the problem with the AC in the room that is kept at 76 and it doesnt really cool that much because the humidity. so keep an eye on that. the hotels also has private beach, however the beach has lots of rocks at the entrance, therefore you need beach shoes are highly recommended. but after you past the rocks, the water is blue and crystal clear with white sand in the bottom. the hotel also offer pedalo, which is the little water car to move around and also has a canoa.. also, take your car and please visit: TROPEA BEACH, CAPO VATICANO BEACH, PARADISO DEL SUB, AND MICHELIN BEACH. theses are must see beaches in the area, and they are only within 5-15 mins drive from the hotel. the hotels also provides with animation and music at night. those guys works reallly hard. also you have to try the ONIONS, the best onions in all italy. calabria is full of beautiful views, you will not regret going there.

This would have been a better review but on checking out we learned that the hotel scams guests with misinformation in order to profit from them. First things first. Make sure you have cash, you need to pay the tourist tax in cash - holiday companies need to be better at conveying that information as we weren’t told (the tax is fine- cash only is a problem). Secondly you cannot buy anything at the hotel, you cannot even get a glass/ bottle of water, until you check in at 5pm. You will be allowed to sit by the pool or beach, but you aren’t eligible to purchase anything as your first night begins at 5pm . To purchase anything at this hotel you need to load up a hotel card for any drinks or snacks. They will tell you that anything you have left on this will be refunded. It will not. If you pay by card, even if you are assured it will, it will be it won’t be refunded. I’m not even convinced it would be refunded even if you used cash. You have no access to tap water at the bar outside of mealtimes (water from your hotel room is fine to drink and there is a fridge in your room to chill it). You have to buy bottled water from the bar or from the coop. Waiting and bar staff are lovely and helpful, but reception staff are less so, even if you’re Italian speaking. They will tell you one thing and then the lifeguards or serving staff will tell you that isn’t the case, and there’s no love lost between them. Rooms are clean and the housekeeping staff are great, really lovely and thorough. The beds are firm and the air con is good. The rooms are large but there’s very little sound insulation so if you’re not an early riser…. You will be. Access to Sun-beds depends on the time of year. We were initially shown to the posher ones and then to the ones crammed together on the beach. Both are fine if the resort is quiet and there is lots of space to spread out. They appear to shut the pool from 2-4, but not always. The local village shops, banks etc also close from 2-4 The food is excellent. I haven’t eaten this well at any other hotel. Really good selection of antipasti and roast veg with menus on display every morning. The location is great, you can see Stromboli and Etna on clear days, the beach is stony as is the area (beach shoes are a must) but they have put a curve of rocks in to create a bay which is protected even on rough sea days. The pool is ok, but a little loud with the animation team going. Dining windows are strict and very much kept to. Dinner is 7.45- 9pm and they will start winding down at 8.45. You are not allowed to fill up water bottles from the restaurant and that is strictly enforced. It’s very much an Italian resort with very few Brits, which suited us. But if you have read of the other reviews you’ll see that Italian guests also aren’t hugely impressed with the way everything is run. It’s a 20min walk to the local shop and a 30 min walk to the train station. Capo Vaticano is well worth visiting, as the beach is stunning. Sunbeds on the beach cost €20 for two but be warned, Ubers are unreliable, particularly for the return journey and it’s an hour walk back. A taxi will cost in excess of €30 whereas an uber is about €8. Pizza at the beach is a MUST. It’s great! Trainers or walking shoes are a must if you leave the resort, as the hills are epic! Up until checkout we would have booked for that resort again but the card situation soured the holiday. The reception staff treat you like an inconvenience, the other staff are brilliant. We will be returning to Calabria. 100% recommend the region. It is beautiful.

Every evening we were able to find very good dishes, Very nice surprise. The hotel rooms are in order. At the end of the season, the air conditioner is turned off . When we said that there was no air conditioner, we got the answer - that we already needed a blanket. Meanwhile, for Italian vacationers, the staff is more visited, they have found a portable breeze. The most terrible thing was that to the nearest shop twenty minutes walk. And to a steep mountain. You will not find water in the hotel rooms. If you don't have a rental car, then we had a lot of inconvenience. To all the questions at the reception we heard the answer impossible. This place beats records based on impossible answers. In our group there were three people who celebrated birthdays. We asked to make a cake , or to tell you where it could be purchased, because there were no surrounding stores, we got the answer IMPOSSIBLE. We arrived before the season closed, so all the surrounding cafes did not work. We wanted to buy lunch in hotel because there is no way to eat anywhere, the answer was IMPOSSIBLE. Upon arrival at the full village to receive a response from the hotel. that we're not going to be able to beat all the IMPOSSIBLE records already. Great location, but terrific service . Lack of flexibility and helpfulness.

Reception. Consent. Polite. However, I do not understand who keeps the personal document - ID. It never had to be left anywhere. I was hoping to receive a document when I was presenting the keys. However, the reception was not open. Good thing I had another passport. During the week time did not even mention about it. Reception from evening to 8 am. is not open in the morning, Booking does not inform about this. Late check-in. I would suggest to write what is included and what is not in the description of the accommodation. The pool is closed, siesta from 13:00-16:00. I paid for WIFI, but it only works in two places, so I sat at the reception with my computer. If I pay the money, it could be in the rooms. Rooms. Cleaning is done daily, towels are changed. As for cleanliness, it's hard to say, different maids handle things differently. Food. Breakfast is the same, simple. Significantly more variety, choice at dinner. But there is a lack of fruit, there is not even a choice. Excellent service staff. Beach area. Swimming with children is unsafe, deep, big waves. Too small. It needs to be improved. The man working here was rude. My poor opinion. Divides vacationers into their own and others. Animation. It was on 14-15 days, suitable for children, but not for adults. There was not even a show program in the evening. Two evenings in a row, a group of dancers performed line dances, although it would be a student to dance all of them. I would call the evening program - "Dances for dancers". Pool. The only place where I give -10 points. Sea view, deckchairs, service person. Just great. Using the hotel card for additional amenities - drinks at the bar. If the 30 euros paid for it are not used, the balance will not be returned. Place. There is nowhere to go, the nearest store is about a kilometer away, you have to go uphill, on a serpentine road, it is not fun to walk when the cars are buzzing, it is not safe. All the disappointment is redeemed by the beautiful views. A place for retirees or those who rent a car and travel.
