“Wonderful hotel in a beautiful location!”

We returned to this hotel again and the same high standards prevail. A peaceful setting for a really relaxing visit to Ischia. Delicious food, served expertly, lovely wine and cocktails from Ciro, spotless room service and pool, all helped to make the holiday perfect. The hotel is placed in the centre of the main shopping area Via Roma, but a few minutes walk from the beach with all the bars and loungers you could need. So good, we are returning in September! Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Floridiana as a British family of 2 adults (50+years) and 13 year old Autistic son. Room 334, in July 2025. Ischia did not disappoint as it is one of the most beautiful places we have been, well maintained, spotlessly clean and with the most beautiful trees and plants, and incredible buildings and landscapes. Hotel Floridiana is an attractive hotel in a very good location on a main shopping street. The hotel has a lovely reception area, and is very clean and welcoming. We were taken to our room and given a warm welcome. The room itself was pleasant, two single beds joined together, but were very comfortable. Our son had a single sofa bed but said it was also quite comfortable. The air conditioning was great and made the room a welcome retreat from the heat outside. The bathroom was acceptable but quite small, with the toilet very close to the shower, which could be tricky for someone tall with long legs! Shower caps and soap were provided and on the wall was a soap dispenser near the sink and one in the shower. Rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed daily. Mini bar stocked with water and one Coke and one lager. Two large wardrobes. Only slight annoyance was the hairdryer in the bathroom which is fixed to the wall and you need to press continuously to operate, it took ages to dry my long hair and gave me a sore thumb! Also, the plugs around the room were not all the same, so only one of our plug adaptors fitted. We had a long balcony with a pool view and could see the sea in the distance which was lovely. There was a kettle provided in the room with tea, coffee and sugar, though this was not topped up during the stay and no milk provided, though I am sure this would have been sorted had we asked. We were half board therefore had breakfast and evening meals. Breakfast was varied and we enjoyed it, there was a good selection of cakes and pastries, meats, cheese, cereal, eggs, bacon, breads, toast, yogurts and fruits. The coffee wasn’t very nice unless you pay extra for a cappuccino or similar. Fruit juices cost extra so we usually drank tea or water. Waiters are all lovely, polite, and attentive. Evening meals were all quite traditional food, some we enjoyed very much and some we did not like, but that is down to personal taste rather than any particular issue with the food. Our only complaint would be that the fruit dessert never changed all week, only watermelon, melon and pineapple, it would have been nice if a different choice was given sometimes, particularly as my partner is diabetic so could only have fruit for dessert. We had lunch at the bar a few times, which was always nice and reasonably priced. Regarding the pools, we did not use them much, largely due to the fact that the pool guard seemed to reserve the best sun loungers early in the morning for regular guests, who then kept them for the rest of the day by leaving towels etc on them, even when not in use. The few remaining were not in the best areas, or very close to other guests. We think we were the only British family there, and felt a little unwelcome by some of the regular Italian guests, who seemed mainly to be older or elderly and tended to stare at us and not return smiles or greetings. The outdoor pool area is pretty, but very quiet and I feel that young children would probably not be welcome if they were being noisy and splashing around as children tend to. In short, I feel this is more a hotel for older guests who are looking for peace and quiet. Luckily this suited us as our son is autistic and does not like crowded, noisy environments.If you are looking for a family hotel that has a pool where kids can run and play, I would recommend you stay somewhere more suited. I am told children are not allowed in the pool between 2 and 5pm. Rule is that you have to wear a swimming cap which I found quite off putting. Towels can be rented but if possible bring your own to save money. We went on two tours which we paid for at the hotel, having picked up a leaflet on the front desk. The winery tour with a trip around the island which was incredible and well worth the money, we thoroughly enjoyed it, and took loads of photos in Sant’Angelo. We also did a trip to Castello Aragonese which was also enjoyable, though the walk up the steps in the hot weather was challenging and we ended up a sweaty mess! The views were incredible though and seeing the nuns ‘putridarium’ was quite an eye opener! I’ll leave you to google what it is! Walk to the Ischia Porto, it’s beautiful, with some lovely shops along the way. On the whole, we had a lovely holiday in Ischia and were happy for the most part with the Hotel Floridiana.

I was visiting cousins in Ischia and this was my third visit to the island. The staff in the restaurant was super sweet. The breakfast and dinner were both tasty. The room was cleaned each day. The front desk staff was helpful until they told me I had to pay for several items in cash such as the massages, the overpriced laundry, a visit from their on site doctor when I was ill, and the taxi drivers, that claimed they did not accept cards. I said my bank does not allow me to take out more than a small amount per day and they insisted I go to my ATM every day until I had the cash they demanded. Upon checkout at 5am, they were insisting that I pay for the items in cash and I told them never in my life has a hotel requested this and I wanted to charge everything on my card. This, by the way, is the law in Italy. Businesses must accept credit cards!! To avoid missing my taxi to the port at 5am, I paid them for the items in cash. My Taxi driver was paid by my uncle in Ischia who was worried I would be taken advantage of by the many taxi driver crooks who claim they don't take cards and then overcharge in cash. This hotel disappointed me because I feel they were contributing to the dishonesty of some Italians towards tourists. The room was average without any toiletries, only local channels on a tiny TV available, and the pool forced us to wear swim caps like we were out of a 60s film. Water bottles were 4 euros each and they would not offer us tap water anywhere except from our bathroom sink. The hotel itself is a maze. In short, it's a hotel if you want a modest stay in a hotel for an older population, close to the port. And beware...Refuse to pay for anything in cash. Again, they were breaking the law as do many taxi drivers and business owners do in Italy!
