Simply put, the Casthotels Tramonto d'Oro was one of the best hotels I have ever had the privilege of staying in during my years of traveling. Not only is the property beautiful beyond words, but the entire staff is compassionate, patient, and well-informed. Being my first time in Italy, I was unfamiliar with my surroundings, customs, and language. The entire staff could not have been more understanding and were glad to help with directing me, providing insight, and guidance about the beautiful island of Ischia. I boarded the ferry in Naples, bound for Ischia and finally, Forio. I was in absolute awe when I disembarked. Forio is a magical village, with beautiful shops, restaurants, and attractions. I walked from the port to the hotel, which was a fairly easy experience. The hotel is, however, located on a busy road, which is not suitable for pedestrians. Despite this, the location was central and convenient. I loved having the ability to venture into Forio at my leisure and explore all that the island had to offer. There is a bus stop located just down the hill from the hotel. From here, you can travel all around the island. One of my first days, I traveled to the village of Sant'Angelo. It was a short and easy, albeit, crowded bus ride. From Sant'Angelo, you can essentially circumnavigate the entire island and take in all of its beauty. My accommodations at the hotel were ideal. My first room was a single room. Despite being small, it was impeccably clean. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning worked incredibly well. Just outside, there was a cozy seating area with a clothing line, perfect for drying towels and bathing suits. The bathroom was small but functional. Towards the end of my stay, the manager asked if I could move rooms due to a booking conflict with an incoming guest. I was glad to assist and was moved into a room above the lobby. This room was huge. It boasted a massive king-sized bed and an additional twin bed. It also boasted a private terrace with panoramic views of the island and a luxurious bathroom. Unfortunately, both of the rooms I stayed in during my stay lacked Wi-Fi access. The second room, despite being larger and more elegant, had a small and very old television. Overall, the accommodations were beautiful and suitable. The amenities at the hotel are on par with far more prestigious, five-star ones. The pool area was simply breathtaking. It was ideal for swimming, lounging, and tanning. There were plenty of areas for sitting and relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. In addition, there was a beautiful spa that offered an abundance of beauty treatments, and mineral pools. The mineral pools were incredible, and such a nice amenity. The food at the property was impeccable. The waiters in the restaurant treated me like family, always taking me to a table that was prepared for my arrival. Unbeknownst to me, all meals were included in my rate. There is also an a-la-carte bar in the lobby area near the pool. It is perfect for a drink or a small bite to eat while at the pool. I cannot recommend the Casthotels Tramonto d'Oro enough. It is a prestigious property, with beautiful amenities and comfortable accommodations. It is a fantastic place to stay during a visit to the island of Ischia.

Most guests come in groups by bus and are either Italien or German. Hence most Italian hotel staff speak German. The rooms are clean though small, staff is friendly and helpful, spa treatments are plenty and good value for money. Unfortunately quality of food is average and the dining hall is dark and lacks ambience. Free WiFi is in public areas only and not in the room available unfortunately. Downtown Forio is within walking distance with many coffee shops and restaurants available. Public transport bus stop is just outside the hotel with circulating buses every 10 minutes. The hotel bar serves lovely cocktails and more at reasonable prices.
