We arrived just before midnight, weary after a day travelling, but pleased that our transfers had all been smooth. We were relieved that there was someone on reception who was expecting us. "Would you like to go straight to bed, or would you like to go and freshen up and come back for some food? Or would you prefer to eat straight away?" We opted for the latter and were pleasantly surprised to be led to a table that was already prepared and set for us. We were provided with a delicious three course meal and a bottle of lovely wine from the hotel's own vineyard. We were then escorted to our room where our luggage awaited us. We went to bed wondering whether the level of service we had experienced could be maintained or whether it was just a one-off. It wasn't a one-off! Throughout our stay the management and staff could not have done anything more to make our stay better. They were consistently helpful, polite, cheerful and friendly. The hotel is rated as three stars. Everywhere is immaculately clean - the grounds, the communal areas and the bedrooms. Our bedroom was spacious and well-appointed. The sound-proofing could perhaps be improved upon, but it certainly didn't impair our enjoyment of our holiday. The various pools are lovely and the morning & evening shuttle service ensures that the whole island is easily accessible for guests. Breakfast is acceptable, but the evening meals are on quite a different level. Aside from the vineyard, the owners grow much of their own produce and that becomes obvious when you taste the food. We dined in every evening - not because it was convenient - but because the quality of the food was so good (as was the wine). One of the owners eats in the restaurant with the guests every night and this clearly helps to maintain standards. That same individual took a party of us to visit the family vineyard. His knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious and the trip was a highlight of the holiday. I'd strongly recommend you take the opportunity if it is offered. Also, the views from up there are spectacular. So, a 3 star hotel with 4 star food and 5 star service. And I'd give the management and staff 10 stars each.

What a lovely hotel to visit, the staff from the owners to the waiters are the friendliest people, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are adequate and spotlessly clean, the maids are in every day. It is up a very steep hill which would be a bit dangerous to walk as there are no pavements but the free shuttle bus is excellent to take you up and down. We were BB but did eat a few lunches which were lovely. Overall a fantastic week away.

Pros: The place is absolutely beautiful, staff were nice especially the shuttle bus driver. The pools were great. It is very relaxing. The shuttle bus is useful considering it is difficult to go anywhere without a car owing to the steep hill and unsafe road. Breakfast was passable if a bit sweet for my taste. Cons: No tea, coffee or even drinking water in rooms and they said tap water isn't drinkable. They tell you to buy expensive water in glass bottles from the bar. For me providing free drinking water is a basic part of hospitality in any hotel. I've never experienced a place that denies you free water! We were a family of 4 in 35+ degree heat. This is a massive issue and quite unreasonable. We asked for a kettle and they said no. Our room was very basic and tired. Old grout, cracked tiles etc. It was just about ok and it didn't matter because the rest of the place is beautiful but it wasn't to the standard of the rest of the place or in line with the price point at well over £250/night. Food was very expensive and not available on demand. 35EUR set menu (or 25EUR for a 'lighter' dinner which was very basic stuff like bruschetta). No discount for children. So minimum 100EUR with no drinks for a family of 4 to have some bruschetta and salad. Lunch was about 15+EUR and you had to order in the morning and order dinner by 6pm. We ate out because the cost of eating in for a family was totally prohibitive. Some of the other hotels in the area have much more reasonable restaurants with the typical 10EUR pizzas/pastas etc. No fridge in room either so you can't easily bring in/store food. The location is lovely and quiet with fantastic views but the road was narrow and steep and didn't feel safe to walk with kids due to traffic and blind corners. The shuttle bus only goes at certain times. The public buses are not very reliable. It was a bit difficult to get around. Overall the general loveliness of the place meant we had a nice time but there was quite a lot that would be unsuitable for a lot of people and the food/drinks situation was a big negative.
