Art Hotel Grand Paradiso absolutely exceeded my expectations. The hotel is spotless, stylish, and perched perfectly for stunning views that make every moment feel like a postcard. The complimentary pick‑up and drop‑off to the Sorrento train station several times a day was a game‑changer — incredibly convenient and flawlessly run. The staff was fantastic. Every interaction felt warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They made the stay feel effortless. And the on‑site restaurant? A total highlight. The food was phenomenal — easily as good, if not better, than many restaurants in town and very reasonable pricing. After a full day of exploring, being able to sit back, enjoy an amazing meal, and watch the sunset without leaving the property was perfection. I’d return in a heartbeat.

Excellent weeks stay at this hotel in June. The location really is stunning, set on a cliff side overlooking the bay of Naples & Sorrento town with Mount Vesuvius in the background, it is a truly wonderful view and the restaurant & pool areas also benefit from this aspect. Every single member of staff made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we stepped into our hotel, a special mention to all the bar staff & waiters who really were the best we have ever encountered, nothing was too much trouble for them & they were so friendly, engaging & very entertaining! The rooms were fairly basic & could do with more storage space but they were more than fine for a weeks stay and they were cleaned & towels refreshed on a daily basis. There is a very convenient shuttle bus service which provides free transport to Sorrento town centre 10 times a day there & back at convenient times, this was especially welcoming as unless you are a very keen walker the steep climb would be near impossible in the extreme heat when we were there. Also the cost of taxi's are quite considerable, almost 30 Euros in each direction so this service can save you a fair amount of money. All in, an excellent experience and we would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again if we returned to Sorrento.

The Room Our room featured a spacious private balcony with a stunning view of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius — a genuine highlight. We arrived to two twin beds pushed together, though the staff did reconfigure them into a more queen-like arrangement after two days. The beds themselves were comfortable. The room was not well appointed for a 4-star property. Storage consisted of a closet, a small dresser, and a key-operated (non-electronic) safe. Marble floors added a touch of elegance, but the overall furnishings were minimal — two reading lamps (one on each side of the bed), a small side table, and a trapezoidal glass desk that was more decorative than functional (no notepad, limited workspace). The minibar refrigerator was standard European size, and there was no coffee or tea setup. Some rooms do display works by various artists, which adds character to what might otherwise feel like an underwhelming space. Noise was noticeable — we could hear water sounds from neighboring rooms. **Air Conditioning — A Real Problem** The climate control was genuinely frustrating. The thermostat appears adjustable but effectively only controls fan speed. The displayed temperature bore little relation to actual room conditions. The rooms face west, and while curtains attempt to reduce heat gain, this was particularly pronounced during our late June stay. Our room ran warm throughout despite being set at 20°C. On one particularly uncomfortable night, the front desk told us the system showed 19°C — while my handheld thermometer read 27°C. This is a significant shortcoming for a hotel at this price point. **Bathroom** The bathroom was standard size — not what you'd expect at a 4-star hotel. The tub was narrow, with only a partial (roughly 40%) glass wall and a handheld showerhead — no rain shower. Soap, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. **Staff** The restaurant staff were stellar — professional, personable, and genuinely helpful with a great sense of humor. Reception staff were polite. **Common Areas & Atmosphere** The lobby is open and airy, functioning as a gallery for contemporary art in keeping with the hotel's postmodern aesthetic. Housekeeping was diligent — staff were already at work cleaning by the time guests headed to breakfast. **Amenities — Where This Hotel Shines** If the rooms leave something to be desired, the amenities more than compensate. The property features a full-service restaurant that was a genuine highlight of our stay. Breakfast is included and offered as a buffet featuring freshly sourced ingredients, while dinner showcases traditional local cuisine — we dined there and found both the experience and the food excellent. The pool and spa round out an amenity package that is genuinely what makes this property worth considering. **Location & Getting Around** The hotel sits on a scenic hillside above the coast, which means it's removed from the bustle of central Sorrento. A complimentary shuttle runs approximately every approximately every 1.5 hours into town and back, which works well if your schedule is flexible — though it could feel limiting for some travelers. There is a shortcut path down to the main road for those who prefer to walk. **One Suggestion** A water refill station for guests would be a welcome and easy addition. --- Overall, the view and the amenities carry this property — and the restaurant staff in particular make the experience. The in-room comfort, climate control, and appointments fall short of what "4-star" typically implies, but the experience beyond the room is what makes it memorable.
