We stayed 9 nights in June half board at La Solara. Once again, a fabulous vacation. We have been visiting here for many years, each visit special in it's own way. Once again the management and staff of La Solara delivered. A beautiful welcome when we arrived, an easy check-in with welcome drink, a fabulous room with balcony. We could not ask for a better start to our stay. We spent most of our time relaxing by the pool, an area kept so clean by Pietro. We enjoyed all of our meals at the snack bar and in the restaurant. Marcello is a master at work! The entire hotel is so clean and fresh so the housekeeping staff deserve so much credit. It's always a bit sad to leave as we totally relax here each visit but its a day closer to returning next year. I must thank Antonio at reception for attending to a few requests I made prior to arrival. There is a tangible atmosphere of peace and tranquility at La Solara. This, the professionalism of the staff, our beautiful room, the wonderful food and the excellent pool and terrace ensured another splendid vacation. See you all in 2027 for sure. The hotel is a ten minute drive by shuttle bus from the centre of town. It is a sedate, peaceful hotel catering for mainly adult families and couples. There is a very tranquil, relaxing atmosphere and it's a fantastic place to unwind. Our room had a small balcony which we mainly used for drying but is perfectly adequate for sitting out, some rooms had sea views which looked great. The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. The room was cleaned each day. The price we paid for a week was great value considering the location and facilities. As I said, the hotel is a little out of town and benefits from the peaceful atmosphere and the bar and dining areas are perfect for watching the amazing sunsets over Ischia. There is little traffic noise and although the bar has a keyboard duo on three times a week, there is no late night bar noise. I slept undisturbed for the whole week. The staff and service were excellent. From checking in to leaving we couldn't fault them. The bar staff were efficient and polite, the food plentiful and varied, the serving staff were always friendly, smiling and always said good morning and good evening (in Italian). The bar prices were pretty similar to town and there was a wealth of choice from the cocktail menu. The pool is large with a constant supply of towels and no shortage of sunbeds which nobody needed to 'reserve'. As far as I'm aware it is a family-owned hotel and that is reflected in the pride they take. If you are a young family and want a stay with lots of kids activities, or want somewhere with a raucous late night bar, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want somewhere relaxing, with peace and quite but close to town if you want it. then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

Hotels lovely and very clean, food is pretty bad. Menu sounds really nice every night but is served like its all microwaved in a bag. Looks bad and doesn't taste great either. The odd dish was OK. Breakfast on the other hand is great and marchello the restaurant manager is great too. Hotels in a great position but a little out of the way which is what we wanted. Shuttle bus and its drivers are really lovely. Drinks and service at the bar were really good. Geovanni was by far the best member of staff in the whole hotel. Professional, knows how to have a laugh and will help if you need it. Other staff like reception unhelpful and quite rude. He could of kept the custom their all by himself. All in all a great stay, just wish the food was as a good as it sounded and the other staff cared a little more.

This was our second visit to this hotel, as we loved our stay so much the first time. Sadly, we won’t be returning again. There are still lots of positives about the hotel. The service is great, the staff work hard, the cocktails are delicious, and the rooms are kept exceptionally clean. However, the food was a huge disappointment this time and really let the overall experience down. As a vegetarian, I found the options very limited and repetitive, and I ended up eating tomato-based pasta most evenings. I actually came to dread meal times, which is such a shame as the food was delicious and varied during our previous visit. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just the vegetarian options either, even my partner’s meat dishes were very disappointing, with poor-quality ingredients and meals that simply didn’t look appetising. Breakfast was okay, with the pastries being the highlight, but even some of the fresh produce, such as the tomatoes, seemed a little lacklustre. We really wanted to love our stay as much as we did the first time, but unfortunately the decline in the quality and variety of the food means we wouldn’t choose to return. It’s a real shame, as the hotel gets so many other things right.
