During our 2+ weeks in Italy, we stayed in Val di Funes, Venezia, Montepulciano, Roma, and Sorrento, and the Hotel Il Nido was our favorite stay of them all. I booked a standard double room with balcony view overlooking the Gulf of Naples and it did not disappoint. We could never get tired of the view - just breathtaking and so fortunate to wake up every morning and look across the bay at Vesuvius. The room was clean and spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and the hotel decor was just charming - almost retro in a way, but kept up extremely well. The hotel staff was so accommodating, even before we arrived, by answering several questions I had sent them via e-mail. I'm usually for finding different and unique restaurants in the towns we visit, but this time we found ourself eating dinner at the hotel more than once. They have the most beautiful dining room overlooking the Gulf and the menu was fantastic and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also in the same dining area and had a fantastic spread. Although the hotel was up on the hill and not in the downtown area, we ended up really liking this because the hourly hotel shuttle that ran to and from downtown Sorrento more than met our needs. In the case where we had a couple of activities planned not in the downtown, the front desk staff perfectly arranged a driver for us. The owners Gino, Gianni, and their sister were such gracious hosts. We can't wait to book another stay when we return to Sorrento (which we will).

“Enjoy and Relax”

This hotel has fantastic views, great breakfasts, fabulous dinners, and a bus that goes back and forth into Sorrento. This family run hotel employs a very nice and helpful staff that helps you navigate trips to Capri, Amalfi Coast, and Pompeii.

“Mediocre Sorrento Stay”

We booked at the last minute. We waited at the gate for about 20 minutes for the woman to show up. It was clean. The kitchen had nothing except a microwave, coffee pot and toaster. We booked at the last minute. We waited at the gate for about 20 minutes for the woman to show up. It was clean. The kitchen had nothing except a microwave, coffee pot and toaster. There was no coffee, tea, very few utensils. The balcony was small but nice. The sofa bed was comfortable, as was the queen bed. The location was pretty close to the train station and within walking distance of the shopping area. It was too noisy to sleep with the windows open. Shower was fine, as well as towels. Pillows were awful, about as thick as a mattress and extremely hard. They didn't allow a late checkout.
