This hotel has one of the most attractive locations in Sorrento, as the name suggests wonderful panoramic sea view and access via a public lift to a sandy beach and restaurants down below. Situated in Mate there are frequent buses to Sorrento itself but the location is otherwise quite remote. We stayed in a sea view room which was large but rather old fashioned. The same applied to the restaurant, breakfast and dinner were included. You sit at the same table every night and order your dinner from a limited menu the preceding night. Service is friendly and with a sense of humour. Public areas are attractive and well maintained. Work is ongoing outside the hotel to create a piazza looking out across the bay, a pleasant place to sit after the evening meal.

The location of this hotel is undeniably its biggest asset. Perched on high ground, it boasts a truly stunning view over the gulf and the sea. This promise of a breathtaking vista, however, is mostly reserved for the public areas. ​The Downside: Rooms and Amenities ​Unfortunately, most rooms do not share this view, instead facing a closed inner courtyard that offers nothing of interest. The rooms themselves are quite small and decorated in an extreme, stark minimalistic style that, for me, felt more cramped and clinical than chic—almost making the space feel like a cage. Furthermore, the interiors are showing their age and are in need of a fresh coat of paint. ​On the positive side, the housekeeping service was excellent, with daily and thorough cleaning. ​Limited Services ​The common areas and amenities were also a mixed bag: ​The Pool: The pool is small and situated low down, mostly enclosed by walls, which severely limits the amount of sun exposure. ​Dining and Bar: The restaurant appeared to cater almost exclusively to pre-booked groups, and the bar offered a very limited selection of drinks. ​Parking: On-site parking is extremely limited at the moment. However, the proximity of the bus station is a major plus, offering easy transport to Sorrento and surrounding villages. ​Final Verdict ​While the views from the hotel grounds are spectacular, prospective guests should be aware that the rooms are small, dated, and lack a sea view. The limited dining and leisure options suggest this might be a better choice for guests planning to spend most of their time exploring the region rather than relaxing at the hotel.

Hotel offered a beautiful view the Ocean. We stayed early July and unfortunately there was construction going on while we there. Poor internet figured out late the lobby has internet when we needed it. Breakfast spread lacked but toast and jam helped ! Clean rooms, they provided us a remote for the display in the room but it didn’t work. Friendly but pretty basic. The hotel has some nice views of the Ocean possibly a better place to stay in the future.
