The hotel is in a good position. However, it needs a lot of care and attention and in some places a very good clean. I have never been in a 4-star hotel where the bath-towels are full of holes, soap and shampoo in dispensers on the wall and water escapes from the shower making the bathroom flood and become dangerous. Food was good but self-service, something which is ok for breakfast but in a 4-star hotel I expect table service for other meals; cutlery and glassware were often dirty. Members of staff, on the other hand, are very pleasant and helpful.

“Over priced for standard of accommodation”

We recently stayed in Gabicce Mare for a friends wedding and had to find our own accommodation. The location of the hotel was good, a short walk into the centre of the town and only one road back from the beach. The town itself it quite a nothing-ness place, and certainly not attractive!! There is no car park at the hotel so if you have a hire car like we did you have to pay to park in a pay and display about 1km away at a cost of about 10 euro per day. The hotel has quite a grand reception area - as reflected on the website - but not space you would really utilise as guests. Our room was adquate - it had a large whirlpool bath in it as a feature. However it was let down by other factors such as rather uncomfortable mattressess - and the relatively common theme of having two single beds pushed together to make a double. You could not open the bathroom door fully to get into the bathroom as it hit the bed. The bathroom was modern, but with very shabby standard of painting. A friend was staying in another room, and they were very disapointed as theirs was of a less grand nature but was meant to be of the same standard. Breakfast was very good - self service buffet with a good range of food and the waiting staff were very helpful. The pool, which was situated on the first foor was tiny and as less than waist deep. There was a small outside seating area by the pool with 4 sun beds and a table and chairs. There were also gym facilities. One of the main complaints came when we requested use of an iron - in order to be able to iron a shirt for the wedding. They infomred us that they do not have iron's and are not able to give them to guests. However they were willing to iron the shirt for us, for a cost of 5 euro!! We needed it to be done quickly, but they said there was no one to do it so after complaining and trying to explain of the time contraints they took it to a another hotel to be done (and charged us for it). This hotel was ok, but not worth the £130 + we were paying per night for it.
