“Great hotel for either a City Break or as an exploring base for a week”

We would happily return to Bari and stay in this hotel again. We stayed for a full week and enjoyed Bari and exploring Puglia from this hotel. Easy access to Bari airport (Public bus, Airport bus or Tube – all 5 Euros or less per person) and from the hotel it is only 10 mins walk to major bus and train terminals for exploring the region. Very pleased with our Classic Double room despite only having an inner courtyard window (4th floor). Rooms are small but had everything we needed. The best week of sleep I have ever had in a hotel. A comfortable bed and with excellent housekeeping. We stored our luggage on top of the wardrobe. Spotlessly clean every day. Regular top-ups of toiletries and hot drink supplies and we used the mini-bar as a fridge for fresh milk. Reception staff were great often researching public sector train and bus timetables for us. Very good breakfast – regularly restocked and lots of choice of bread, pastries, cakes, fruit and local food (e.g. thin focaccia). We took our own drinks up to the roof terrace of an evening. Excellent access to the coast and old town with restaurants, bars and cafes everywhere near the hotel Be prepared for a week of pasta and pizza. Watchout for prices (cover charges range from 50 cents to 2.50 Euros; Beers can range from 2 to 5 Euros for the same drink (e.g. Peroni) depending if you drink in local cafes or bars or in the tourist spots). Bottled beer is a lot cheaper than draught beer, surprisingly and it is also more accurately measured in a bottle. Not only do different regions of Italy (e.g. Sicily, Puglia) have different food specialities, but so do the different towns within Puglia (e.g. Bari and Lecce). Try a puccia filled with meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce. We did the Guided Tour with pasta making at the end in a real Nonna’s house. Despite most menus being in Italian and English, we found little English spoken outside of the main hotels and tourist restaurants. This was a really authentic Italian break. Most tourist restaurants used a QR code for on-line menus. We walked and used public transport to the beach at Lido San Fresco (1hr walk); Lecce (2hr train); beach at Polinano a Mare (30 mins train); and UNESCO site at Alberobello (1 hr bus). Next time we will consider Monopoli, Ostuni, and Matera.

“Well located although rather tired”

Well located although the hotel and the rooms are rather dated. I might have only given 3 stars except for the wonderful receptionist who managed to locate the taxi driver who brought us in from the airport and who still had my husbands rucksack containing phone, paasport and wallet in his taxi! “Great location”

Stayed for 2 nights in June 2025. Very comfortable single room; quiet; great breakfast; polite staff. Close to everything.

“Near old city, rooms facing street are loud”

We chose hotel due to proximity to the train and old city. A good choice for those options. Front desk staff were kind. We chose hotel due to proximity to the train and old city. A good choice for those options. Front desk staff were kind. We had a room overlooking the street and it was very loud: motorbikes, loud radios, music and shouting at all hours of the night. Not the best night sleep in the few days we were there. An interior courtyard room is probably much quieter. The room was also quite warm, but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had amenities needed, but small shower. Enough hanging space for what we needed. A safe is provided. Breakfast options were plentiful for what we needed before touring. We did not stay for a dinner in restaurant. The rooftop was a disappointment. No one was there. Recommend? yes but recommend an interior room.
