“Small design boutique hotel”

Small, 6 rooms, hotel. Very well renovated design hotel. A central but quiet location. Somewhat small rooms, but with lots of light from large windows. Good sound insulation. Communal breakfast table. Friendly staff

Let’s start with the good: the rooms and hotel have been lovingly restored—clean and modern while retaining the character and beauty of the old building. The rooftop is lovely, and we were lucky to have it to ourselves a few times. The plunge pool is perfect for tired feet after a hot day exploring stunning Lecce, which is just a short 5–10 minute walk away—close enough to be convenient, but far enough to be peaceful. However, for the price, a few things fell short: Communication: We were asked to cancel our Booking.com reservation and book direct, which we were happy to do to support a small business. They offered a WhatsApp concierge service, but when we asked for advice on parking and avoiding the LTZ (limited traffic zone), the responses were vague and not helpful. We ended up accidentally driving through the LTZ - no fine yet, but fingers crossed! Service & Staff: The woman managing the hotel didn’t come across as friendly or helpful. Requests felt like impositions - for example, when we asked to check out, she told us to meet in the lobby but then chatted with another staff member until we had to go back up and remind her 25 minutes later. No apology, just “Oh yes, I will come soon.” While it may be part of the laid-back Italian charm, for the price, we expected more attentive service. To be fair, she seemed to be running things solo most of the time, so we don’t entirely blame her. Breakfast: Served on the rooftop, which sounds idyllic, but with limited shade and slow service in 35°C heat, it was tough. With just one person making coffees and eggs one by one, we waited 1.5 hours for two omelettes and two macchiatos. At a boutique hotel, you expect attention to detail and a more personal touch - this missed the mark. Plunge Pool: No pool towels were provided, and the pool had been taken over by bold pigeons who clearly consider it their personal drinking fountain!
